Memory Eater Research

Does the Demon King farming method not work on Memory Eater? I've been farming all night and it won't drop any research. Even farming it the regular way, bestiary says I've killed it 56 times and only got research once. I've got my research drop chance buffed to over 400%. What heck?

Maybe you are just have bad rolls on the random number generator. Try maximizing your luck.

you can check in bestiary what you research drop chance for memory eater is with you farming setup
the numbers there change according to your current party
400% is not much, if you had 1%, you are now at 4% RDC

Check the loot of the Memory Eater clone when you fight the Demon King, if I recall correctly it doesn't drop research there. You have to fight it and some other bosses in their actual stage.

oh, and luck has absolutley no relation to RDC, it only increases the amount of research dropped, not the chance of it dropping

Pretty sure Chun is correct. I don't believe that any Dungeon Boss type allies drop their research when fighting them in via the Demon King's summon. You have to get their research drops via their specific fights:

he is of course right, i mixed up memory eater and variant octopus
boss mobs only drop in their own dungeon, not from DK
