It is really annoying having to add an instruction to the end and moving it up one step at a time to some location in the middle or the beginning of the list.
My suggestion would be that right clicking on an item in the list would bring up a context menu, which would include an option to add a new entry directly after that item.
Maybe the issue is that the framework that the game is written in does not support context menus?
I can't say much about 3) and 4) because I have only 2 slots and never needed another one - 1 for envy routines right after reincarnation and 1 for general use (used otherwise, with envy routines at the end). This means at most 2 switches per reincarnation and doesn't warrant any use of shortcut slots or getting more AHA slots.
I never had any problems with AHA slots and the way they work. It is different from other templates: other templates "firmly set" certain things with no undo button, AHA is on/off: activating the slot takes the habit, deactivating returns it. To me, AHA is "give that much habit to these routines I want running all the time and leave the rest for whatever else I want right now".
How exactly do you use the AHA slots? I can't think of a way that would make a good use of shortcuts (I never used shortcuts for templates and didn't notice it can be done until now) that are needed for sloth. I never bought shortcut slots with rubies (3 are enough for now) if that matters.
AHA deals out Habit in the order that it appears in the list, so the order matters. The less important things go to the end of the list.
My use case is that I'm trying do lots of short rebirths to collect Sin, while minimizing user interaction. One AHA profile is enough for this, but less efficient than using multiple profiles.
For example, right now I have three profiles:
1) One that I use until I unlock "Graduate".
2) One that I use until the Dark Ritual,
3) One that I use after the Dark Ritual.
However, now I occasionally forget to switch AHA profiles, so I thought that setting them to Shortcut slots would perhaps help with that. On these short runs, sloth isn't really that important, so the shortcuts slots can be used for other things.
I haven't yet bought any shortcut slots for Rubies either. I only unlocked Envy a few days ago, and I'm grinding Sin to unlock/level up a few Envy routines and some other things in preparation for a longer and more idle run.
I only noticed that you can bind templates to shortcut slots recently, but that opens up lots of interesting possibilities, especially once you have more Sloth Template slots available (which I unfortunately don't yet have).
All that really matters is capping worship, class routines and later on austere training and will. Everything else has the completion time exponentially growing with level and quickly gets to the point where more allocated habit/time doesn't matter. I was iirc already 1 habit capping class routines when I got AHA so all I cared about was getting some envy levels (after I got envy, until the growth became too slow) after reincarnating and then switching to the Sacred ritual/class/will setup.
If your habit efficiency isn't high enough to 1 habit cap all class routines, then I can imagine having multiple setups helping.
And 1 last thing: I wouldn't consider sloth less useful than AHA shortcuts. If you pay attention to the game all the time, maybe, but if you just look at it occasionally, sloth can help with things like durable leather and boss farming (gold, gluttony; slime jelly probably helps rank more than a bit better habit management, DR/sin multiplier is always good).
