just continue, after you beat the next area you will have a lot more power and the fight will be easy
also, there are fight father 1-3 and serious father, serious father being the last one
no you cant get the gold cap high enough, you need a monster from the next area for that
It might not seem very obvious, but all that gets locked when leaving your village is the farmwork job which can give you anchovy sandwiches, the rest stays.
Also, defense is sadly a rather mediocre stats, usually the important stats are more atk or matk, depending on which moves you use, and HP.
My only hope was beating father in the village and after a few months of very repetitive grinding I was finally strong enough to one shot "Serious Father".

and on the first playthrough you shouldnt be able to choose not to play with norn
if you still managed it, you might have encountered a bug
My original intention was to get enough max destiny to select the choice "I don't play".
This being my first time playing the game I did not know I would not be able to get up to 600 max destiny and had to try all my other options. I did not think beating Serious Father would grant me the 30 max destiny but I had to try, I was kind of in the Sunk Cost Fallacy.
Not exactly sure what is meant by first playthrough in this game, I have performed Dark Ritual many times on this file. I don't think I encountered any bugs involving Norn, just try making a new game and don't choose anything in "Let's play/I don't play" and see how far you get.
To be clear I did enjoy my time power grinding to beat something unintended for when you can unlock it storywise and am looking forward to finally getting to see the rest of this game.
Unlocking everything in the first playthrough is impossible (some things are mutually exclusive or absolutely require certain reincarnation rewards).
