Defeating Father in the Village
I'm currently, since a few days, farming Inspiration to increase my stats to win the last fight with father. He obviously does have vastly superiour health, but I rationaled that I just need to increase my defence, because his attacks are relatively weak. But, after 10 more Core-Defense, I still seem to get almost the same damage.

Is the fight with father winable, without investing a month to increase my stats? I went for Tamer, wanting to play the long game, but I'm kinda regretting it now.

Second question, is there a way to increasse your gold-cap to 320 in the village? I already did everything I could except fighting father there, and only sit at 300.

dont try to winn the fight against father, just continue, you kann still come back later to fight him and it will be way easier then to wait for weeks for enough inspiration
just continue, after you beat the next area you will have a lot more power and the fight will be easy
also, there are fight father 1-3 and serious father, serious father being the last one
no you cant get the gold cap high enough, you need a monster from the next area for that

Thanks! I was really worried that I couldn't get back to the village afterwards, because the game heavily implies that. Now that I left... I can return, so yes, I wasted alot of time. Thanks again Synthar!

Yeah, better don't try to win any optional fight in the game, you just can't do that this early on. Though I guess at least the father one is a really easy one once you decided to move on for a bit. There are others later on which are even impossible after a few weeks or even some months of playing.
It might not seem very obvious, but all that gets locked when leaving your village is the farmwork job which can give you anchovy sandwiches, the rest stays.
Also, defense is sadly a rather mediocre stats, usually the important stats are more atk or matk, depending on which moves you use, and HP.

So first time playing this game and when seeing the choice to "Let's play/I don't play" I decided to not choose the former and just wait til I had enough destiny to choose the latter. I later became locked out of progressing the story due to not having enough max destiny for "Talk with father 3/3" and "Go through the forest", and not being able to obtain goddess statues for "Talk with Norn 4/5"

My only hope was beating father in the village and after a few months of very repetitive grinding I was finally strong enough to one shot "Serious Father".

well... if you just continue the game, it will be really easy to beat father, no grinding required

and on the first playthrough you shouldnt be able to choose not to play with norn
if you still managed it, you might have encountered a bug

My original intention was not to beat "Serious Father" without progressing through the story.
My original intention was to get enough max destiny to select the choice "I don't play".

This being my first time playing the game I did not know I would not be able to get up to 600 max destiny and had to try all my other options. I did not think beating Serious Father would grant me the 30 max destiny but I had to try, I was kind of in the Sunk Cost Fallacy.

Not exactly sure what is meant by first playthrough in this game, I have performed Dark Ritual many times on this file. I don't think I encountered any bugs involving Norn, just try making a new game and don't choose anything in "Let's play/I don't play" and see how far you get.

To be clear I did enjoy my time power grinding to beat something unintended for when you can unlock it storywise and am looking forward to finally getting to see the rest of this game.

You haven't reached certain game mechanics yet, one of them (reincarnation) ends the "run" and makes you start again from the village with various boosts, including higher max destiny. You need something like 2k max destiny for the "I don't play" option to make sense.
Unlocking everything in the first playthrough is impossible (some things are mutually exclusive or absolutely require certain reincarnation rewards).

I don't think I beat serious father until my 2nd or 3rd reincarnation. Now I'm beating him before I make it through the forest on my 22nd run. It gets easier as you get more reincarnations and other mechanics open up.
