Luck Stat?

So, I've tried looking through the various tooltips that are in the game, and I apologize if I overlooked it, but what exactly does the luck stat do? I can't seem to find anything about it's purpose? Does it just boost drop rates or something?

Help/Party/Level Up:
"You can get more Research by setting your ally that has luck".

It increases amount of Research that drops when it drops according to description, does not affect drop rates or anything else.

Another noteworthy thing; the DR multiplier by 1 for each monster with maxed out luck.
After the forest it is probably not worth your time to max everything but once you're far enough to get 100+ research per drop it becomes rather lucrative.
