How do you get sin?
I am about to do my first restart, but don't know when to actually do it. How can you tell how much sin you'll get?

When you click Reincarnate, or whatever new menu is called that appeared after you reached first ending, you will be shown how much sin you are going to get. You then will need to confirm reincarnation so unless you do it you can use that screen to check that you get at least 2 before doing first reset.

Ah! Thanks! I was worried that the button was a one-way street!

You get the Chronicle reward for clicking Reincarnate. (Blessings/rubies/etc)
You don't actually reincarnate until confirmation - the actual reincarnation is what gives the sin.

I think this is rewarded as soon as you select an ending. No need to reincarnate for that. Although there is really no reason to stay for too long after you selected an ending, just to get to the next sin point if you are really close.

Edit* I need more coffee. It's rewarded when you 'unlock' reincarnate. IE: When you complete the 'Chronicle Action' that opens reincarnate.
You are right in that there's not much reason to keep pushing unless you are really close to the next sin.
One thing I haven't tested is whether you get the 'Each Clear Bonus' after you've 5/5'd it.

I`d say unlocking hermit is an exception to this. Rather try getting 2-3 more sins than wait another reincarnation.

You don't get the "each clear bonus" after you've hit 5/5. Otherwise you could just grind ED1 indefinitely to remove all max destiny issues.
