Those high res textures never load in either. Devs please fix this! If you guys can update the game for PS5 Pro players, you can update the game for us as well.

what GPU? How much vram you got?

edit: just booted up my game, yeah looks bad, I thought it might be the LOD bias, so I change it to -1, still look bad.

It's odd, everything looks the same except for the jacket, but the lighting being so different between the two makes any firm conclusion difficult. Normal maps will present themselves differently depending upon the position of the light.

There's no mention of increased textures from the PS5 Pro patch, so who knows. I have it both on the PC and my PS5 though, so I'll try and take a screenshot of the exact same position and see if at least the regular PS5 looks better here too.

Could be that they enhanced some textures on the Pro due to more memory (the Pro kept the 16GB GDDR but added more DDR5 so OS components could live there and free up memory space for devs), or PSSR with added sharpening, dunno. We need more comparisons with the exact same positioning.

This is basically what I think. PS5 and PC look the same from comparing my own PC screenshots to youtube PS5 walkthroughs. The PRO has upgraded textures for the jacket specifically. It's odd they didn't mention them in the patch notes. It's definitely not just added sharpening.

Either that or some bug has caused the correct texture LOD to not load on all other versions and the Pro version's texture quality is how it was always meant to be.. but I kind of doubt that. Probably just added a little something to jazz up the PS5 Pro update announcement.

Ok, here's about as close as comparison as I could make. PS5 is in Quality mode, PC is from a 3060 12GB, everything maxxed, 4K output but with FSR2 Quality.

There is definitely detail missing on the jacket. Everything else is comparable, but it seems like the PC version is maybe missing a detail map here. Especially with how the felt lining of the jacket reacts to the light, it really seems to me to be an issue with a missing normal/detail map on the PC. Like the lining of the jacket looks like styrofoam on the PC, but looks like actual wool/fleece on the PS5 - this indicates to me this isn't just a case of a lower res texture, but actually some layer is missing:

Tried some other positioning/light sources, and I can never get the PC to look like the PS5, that particular weird texture for the felt lining never looks how it should on the PC. It's definitely missing something. So this has nothing to do with the Pro, it didn't get any texture updates - the jacket's been bugged on the PC since the beginning and just no one noticed.

Another example with a different lightsource:

So even the PS5 original has the better texture on the Jacket? I watched a youtube vid where it clearly was the same as the PC version looks.

Is there performance/quality modes on the PS5? That's really weird. PC is definitely missing some high frequency detail maps for sure.

Also, what the hell is which the PC version not having the "Black Level" setting? I know you can change the color space, but all of them have a quite elevated black level on PC. Thing that sucks about it is that SDS will likely never touch this game again on PC.

Yup, I'm running the PS5 version in quality mode but that has no bearing on the jacket properties.

Could also be that they've got sorting error wrong, an error I've seen in other games (that are usually patched). Like the normal map is at the top overlaying the detail map or something.

Yeah I noticed that too! The contrast in this game sucks and it was a sorely needed addition, but never ported back to the PC version.

The PS5 Pro update includes a new set of textures. So it's logical that these textures are not found in the PC version.

My bad, I had previously posted "you should read the thread" like a smug jerk, but now I've been shown older PS5 videos, where the jacket looks the same as the PC version. So you're right.

Apparently they backported the texture upgrades to the regular PS5 version as well, which is why they look different on my PS5. I had to install it from scratch so never got a patch update notification which may have tipped me off.

Would be nice to see these upgrades backported to the PC version as well. And for the love of gawd, DLSS please.

No problem mate, and yes i would love to see some new textures too.

DLSS sounds unlikely since the game had AMD support

Yeah, I'm just hoping any exclusivity agreements with AMD may have expired by now if they do decide to bring the texture upgrades. Unlikely though.

There is a DLSS mod on Nexusmods, but I've never been able to get it to work, crashes to desktop as soon as it gets to the main menu.

Really? This mod works without problems for me. BUT you have to change the ratio settings. The mod-uplader somehow used wrong settings.

do you need instructions?

then at least give us XeSS support and FSR3 frame gen if they can't bother to optimize it for CPU, only way to get around that is frame gen.

They can't even give us native dualsense support to I doubt they will do anything

The Callisto Protocol saw a 20% performance boost in minimum framerates on my PC system. My PC system is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 7700x, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080. So, from 70fps, we went to 85fps. That’s at Native 1080p on Max Settings with Ray Tracing. However, our average framerates remained exactly the same (120fps).

After Denuvo removal in march I also noticed fewer stutters in this latest version of the game. Not only that, but the game was not hammering like crazy one CPU core/thread. Instead, it was using 4-5 CPU threads

Thanks but not a problem of installation, I'm also on the latest Win11 which may be playing a part.
