GRP is OP
It's almost made it too easy . . .

So I'll try Hardcore mode and see what's up.

Once you get to know the game better, you will find that it's not how much you upgrade GRP that matters, it's how you use it. Things like standing behind machinery and pulling enemies into it, and running to a spot where an enemy appears near a ledge or railing, then quickly grabbing and flicking it over, matters a lot.

The less distance you pull and especially throw with the GRP, the less battery power it uses. Best to not throw heavy enemies if you can avoid it too, and when you do, try to be as close as possible to spikes or whatever you're using, and better yet, just spin around and attach them vs throw.

Just make sure you don't get dangerously close to the machinery yourself, especially if you try Contagion mode, because it's a costly mistake that can have you replaying entire chapters. I HAVE found though that quicky grabbing and tossing mutating enemies can save you from being grabbed. On Contagion mode, every time I replayed the Habitat level, which was numerous times just due to the flooded tunnel, I at first just shot the mutator in the same shin 3 times (where you're given a tutorial how to deal with them). Then the mutator started rushing me and grabbing me before I could even shoot, so I grabbed and flicked him, then shot him 3 times and whacked him as he crawled to me. The 3 shots to the leg, then whack them as they crawl to you trick works great for Big Mouths too.

Basically just use GRP wherever there's an adequate amount of batteries. However that room with lots of machinery right after you cross a void with the first tram to get to the Shu can be one place where clever use of the GRP, and even hopping over barricades, can help a ton, especially on harder modes. It helps a lot as well to know where each wave spawns. I once ran out of batteries there and managed to just evade them by hopping over the barricades, then positioned myself so they would run into machinery.

Every trick you can use to conserve resources, credits, and ammo on Hardcore helps.

I used the GRP to pull the muters off the SHU into the void as well. Then I immediately thought I wonder if I should’ve kept them somewhere I could access them because those credits may be more valuable.

The ones that appear first as the door opens when you're going across the tram are actually Big Mouths though, and they are MUCH heavier. What's weird is you can do a quick burst pull on one of them, and he'll just fall down and die, but the other I like to shoot 3 times in one shin. It's as if going beyond the threshold of the door kills them.

As far as credits go, you typically get ammo, batteries, and health off corpses. Credits are usually found on shelves behind glass, and in the small red and blue crates sometimes. It makes a big difference though on Hardcore to make sure you scavenge all the credits you can. My first run on Normal I missed a LOT of shelves.

This guy is the best I've seen at playing the game. At the 55:27 mark you can see what I'm talking about.
