Try to change settings to DirectX 11 in AppData\Local\CallistoProtocol\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini
Just type 11 instead of 12

I have the same issue, started from the beginning 5 times !! they wont refund me the game and it keeps getting stuck at loading screen when i load my saved game again and again. Tried every single solution but it wont work. They need to remove the game from steam store due to dishonesty cause it feels like a steal when you buy a product and it doesnt work ! it's not a matter of liking the game or not but playing it actually. if you guys find any solution that works kindly let me know <3

Go to %localappdata%\CallistoProtocol\Saved\SaveGames and check whether the recent .sav files are larger than 200 MB (they should be only 200-500 KB). If so, this is a bug - you'll be unable to load these overly large savegames.

Delete them, search on the web for saves from other people and copy them into your savegame directory. Try to find a suitable position from which you can continue playing.

I tried to take a lot of time to get it to load, it takes about 20-30 minutes to get into the game, then you can't die, otherwise it will be another 20-30 minutes, thanks for pointing out the problem.

Does anyone know what's triggering the 200mb saves? Even when reloading a smaller file save, new saves become massive. This is blatantly a broken product - why no fix for such a glaringly obstructive issue?!

Bro go to the save file location, then erase everything except the first 2 files and it will work
The only thing that works are the cloud scores, but they are not up to date

I've found that when I was using WeMod with cheat codes in the game, that's when my save files were over 250 MB in size. There were also moments where I was stuck in the game as my character couldn't move over an infected body to proceed to the next area. When I started a new game and didn't use any cheat codes, I stopped experiencing all of these problems and I am currently farther in the game without loading hiccups.
