Great help, thanks
Well we did try to warn you. Sadly you chose not to follow the advise of the masses. Game is unstable even today especially for people running Nvidia cards. You can definitely try your luck refunding at 6 hours playtime. Though your chances are as good as surviving a jump at 20k feet from an airplane.
To be fair, you didn't warn anyone about this issue. This is a very strange issue that's never ever happened to me with any other game after a driver update, with decades of gaming under my belt.
"Poorly optimized" most definitely doesn't mean the game randomly stops working and hard crashes a PC. Anyway, refund submitted.

First off, don't let my gameplay time fool you. I had already finished this game (8.5 hours played on PS5). If I could upload a screenshot here I definitely would.
Summary, TLDR review.
- At this point of writing, this game isnt worth $60. Get it only at half price or below.
- My personal rating for this game is a strict 5.5/10, an extremely mediocre, average and plagued with lack-luster content.
Graphics (9/10)
Game has some nice graphics, no doubt bout it. Really a welcome sight to the so called "horror franchise" since the days of RE2 remake. Aside to that, it falls short everywhere else.
Story (2/10)
Extremely linear, predictable, non enticing or exciting storyline. There is no character development and/or memorable characters that warrants even a sequel. The main story is recycled from past series of Resident Evil, particularly Resident Evil 4, where some people debuts it as a "Las Plagas in Space". The cliffhanger "ending" whereby you don't actually get to see what happens to your main character which you had invested your multiple gameplay hours into can be argued as being "predatory" as it requires people to buy the DLC.
Combat and Enemy Varieties (3/10)
One of the more infamous points of contentions. Half of the players hate it, whilst the other half loves it. Playing it on PS5, the controller inputs are rather smooth with no issues. However, the controller inputs on PC is totally horrendous. Dodging (which requires either a left or right button to be held down) often times doesnt work on PC due to input lag, stutters, frame drops, failure to register the button, etc that is basically plaguing PC players resulting in unnecessary deaths. There is a distinct lack of enemy varieties and also unique ways to combat different enemy types is basically non existent, resulting in mostly a 4-6 hour unique game time conveniently streched to 8-10 hours by crawling through ducts, small areas, and walking through empty hallways.
Replayability (0/10)
None whatsoever. NG+ doesnt exist as to date of writing. Even if it did, it would make the game extremely trivial which it already is when the player actually grabs the GRP mid game and starts to be the next Chuck Norris, essentially turning the game from a "horror" genre into a "FPS" and "Action RPG" instead.
Frame rate drops, random crashes and stutterings are present whilst RT remains dysfunctional, as well as HDR.
My strict rating of this game sits on a 5..5/10 (MEH) quality. You won't lose anything by being patient and waiting for the game to go on a major sale. Or if you can't wait, just get it on the console.
Read my review 2nd last paragraph of the game. It’s not just me saying this btw. If you choose to ignore it and go against what people have to say and dismiss them as pure opinions, it’s on you.
Good luck on that refund though. You’ll need it.
"random crashes" are very common with newly released or badly optimized games but a game completely failing to run and hard crashing a computer on every single launch after a GPU update is an anomaly and not something any review or yourself mentioned. I know you're trying to connect the dots but no, no one mentioned this.
Anyway, I'm trying an install on a different drive for now until I hear back from the refund gods.
Good news, reinstalled on a different drive and it works again.
Weird.
I have no idea. I've updated GPU drivers countless times over the years, never had something like this happen. It's definitely done something to my C drive. I installed TCP on D drive, runs fine. I tried moving it via Steam back to C, same problem again, freezes and hard reboots PC, moved back to D, runs fine again. Definitely a head scratcher.
Also we have a known 0.1hr negative review from December with severe credibility issues getting thrown back in the mix again, there's threads about this kind of behavior possibly being intentional and worth checking out. Either way we've come a long way from half a year ago, and this does not sound like a game issue at all, at least not one lots of people actually seem to be experiencing including myself, updated and all.
Welcome to the forum! You just unlocked your first 11 achievements yesterday with only 2.3hrs of playtime, so when did the problem start?
delete everything except the "saved games" folder
it fix for me. now game works and launch with RT
i use latest driver nvidia.
