If you stick to that the weapons and perks you choose shouldn't be the deciding factor but that's all I got; hope someone who made it to 50 in one piece will chime in for the rest, could use some more tips myself
-10% damage reduction
-increase health after each wave
-100 credits after each wave (don't need this one really, maybe pick something better)
Upgrade your melee first and then focus on getting assault rifle. AR and handcannon will carry you through everything. I saved my power activation for 2 heads as the robots can easily be taken care of with a few shots to head. Buy injector health kits whenever you can. They refresh each wave (and make sure you are always topping off your health).
Don't bother with the side quests after a certain point. The only useful ones are the refund purchase rewards. Use that to save yourself a ton of credits on the AR upgrades / ammo fill. Just remember you should always prioritize your safety over these quests. If a side mission takes you into danger or is not easy to complete then it is probably best to skip.
I mostly stayed in the main central room on the catwalk platforms in the middle of it. It gives you good vision of stuff approaching you.
As other poster said, make sure you enable dodge assist. I also recommend you enable the high contrast mode as well. This makes Jacob green and all enemies bright red. It makes it very easy to see everything coming at you. I did contagion run with this and it made things even easier.
Okay, so from what I can remember, I skipped all challenges that didn't offer free purchases or ammunition.
I prioritised the GRP and Baton first, then I upgraded both the Riot Gun and Skunk Gun to maximum. These were the only guns I used for the whole run, and I never ran out of ammuntion. All Credits and free purchases at this point were only used on Health Injectors or ammo.
I always restored my health at the end of a wave if needed.
I never used the traps, other than to kill one Two-Head for the achievement. They just seemed like a good way to get myself killed.
I used the baton for everything. Not shooting unless I head to. Robots, Mutation, Two-Head etc.
The only enemies that caused me trouble were the exploding ones. Watch out for them, they can easily sneak up on you and deal a decent amount of damage.
Hope some of that helps.
