I have played dead space remake , and got the original way back when it first come out so i can give what i hope is a balanced voice to this.
So first off the game is creepy and very atmospheric, with good jump scares and tense music at the right times. The detail in the graphics is exceptional and the FPS in game is very good now compared to when it first come out, but id still recommend turning off motion blur and Vsync and you will be fine.
The story is a good one too, with well acted performances from Josh Duamel as Jacob and Karen Fukuhara as Dani + a host of other actors putting in there weight.
The Main story is about the Warden of black iron prison on the cold Jupiter moon of Callisto, you crash land and get taken in as a prisoner before all hell is let loose, part mind games part physical action survival horror. I thought the pacing of the story and action was great all the way though to the end.
Some criticisms from me would be that they should of come up with some AI dynamic scare programme that would randomise the scares on each saved load up or new game, basically when ever you enter into the game from coming out, just to keep it fresh as you can get use to were the scares will happen on a new game+ or any kind of second play though.
It would of been nice to of had more areas to explore, even though there are some nice side rooms and areas to unlock from the main path, they are not to long but still do add to the over all game time and relevance of black iron prison.
Finely id say putting the ending to Jacobs story in a payed DLC was not that bad, its not expensive to get and gives a good 3-4 hours added on to the story and is very well done, plenty of new scares and creepyness to be had, as well as a decent ending to Jacobs story in this universe.
My final thoughts are that i played though dead space remake once, put it down and didn't bother with it again, its a good game don't get me wrong, but its not Callisto Protocol, the game is different to its original counter part despite what a lot of people would say, i think you will understand what i mean if you deiced to get it, plus as of right now its 50% off on steam and that is a big win! I hope this helped you

Here is the benchmark for the RTX 3080 1440p from a month ago:

The only think i didn't like is the dodge mechanics, as the video said, is a little bit repetitive.
I'm 95% of buy calisto....the thing is, the optimization...
i have a Asus RogStrix G13
Ryzen 7 4800H
RTX 3060 6GB
16GB
SSD
I don't mind playing a game with some settings on medium or high...if it helps on FPS....
Check out the Callisto Protocol, different style combat, lighter on scares, heavier on gore, Plus it's currently 50% off. And honestly the original Dead Space 2008 still holds up now very well, just make sure to have Vsync on and such, so it doesn't brick your progress when a door doesn't open, or Isaac getting stuck in a zero G environment (from my own experience)
I found Dead Space fun but also really enjoyed Calisto Protocol.
Do you prefer a more "scary" game that's more atmospheric with good graphics and has an enjoyable plot that makes it feel like YOU could be the one trapped in "dead space"? (Buy DeadSpace remake).
Do you prefer a game with really pretty graphics and animations but has simple gameplay and a less interesting, almost enigmatic story that has in-your-face melee combat? (Buy Callisto Protocol).
I think most people have a bad taste in their mouth because THIS game was nothing like it was hyped up to be, it's a fun game but no way near the price point - it should have been 39 so we could get it for 19 on sale :).
