If you are a horror-sci fi gamer, this game is definitely up your alley. However, you may want to consider the game's mediocrity experience it can only deliver for the price you are about to pay.
If you are swimming in cash, I would say go for it. If you are not, then perhaps you would like to make a more informed decision before deciding.
This is my review I posted on Steam. (hope it helps, I tried to word it as clear as I possibly can) Don't just take my word for it. Look up your favorite youtubers, or review sites like metacritic as well. https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/the-callisto-protocol
One of my favorite youtubers I personally regard highly too is Angry Joe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2L-4tBVoGZY
It's a 45min long review though if you have the time to sit through it. He might have been a 'lil harsh on some of the stuff mentioned but he pretty much nails the entire spectrum of complaints from people who have played the game. (so a All in One video, so to speak)

First off, don't let my gameplay time fool you. I had already finished this game (8.5 hours played on PS5). If I could upload a screenshot here I definitely would.
Summary, TLDR review.
- At this point of writing, this game isnt worth $60. Get it only at half price or below.
- My personal rating for this game is a strict 5.5/10, an extremely mediocre, average and plagued with lack-luster content.
Graphics (9/10)
Game has some nice graphics, no doubt bout it. Really a welcome sight to the so called "horror franchise" since the days of RE2 remake. Aside to that, it falls short everywhere else.
Story (2/10)
Extremely linear, predictable, non enticing or exciting storyline. There is no character development and/or memorable characters that warrants even a sequel. The main story is recycled from past series of Resident Evil, particularly Resident Evil 4, where some people debuts it as a "Las Plagas in Space". The cliffhanger "ending" whereby you don't actually get to see what happens to your main character which you had invested your multiple gameplay hours into can be argued as being "predatory" as it requires people to buy the DLC.
Combat and Enemy Varieties (3/10)
One of the more infamous points of contentions. Half of the players hate it, whilst the other half loves it. Playing it on PS5, the controller inputs are rather smooth with no issues. However, the controller inputs on PC is totally horrendous. Dodging (which requires either a left or right button to be held down) often times doesnt work on PC due to input lag, stutters, frame drops, failure to register the button, etc that is basically plaguing PC players resulting in unnecessary deaths. There is a distinct lack of enemy varieties and also unique ways to combat different enemy types is basically non existent, resulting in mostly a 4-6 hour unique game time conveniently streched to 8-10 hours by crawling through ducts, small areas, and walking through empty hallways.
Replayability (0/10)
None whatsoever. NG+ doesnt exist as to date of writing. Even if it did, it would make the game extremely trivial which it already is when the player actually grabs the GRP mid game and starts to be the next Chuck Norris, essentially turning the game from a "horror" genre into a "FPS" and "Action RPG" instead.
Frame rate drops, random crashes and stutterings are present whilst RT remains dysfunctional, as well as HDR.
My strict rating of this game sits on a 5..5/10 (MEH) quality. You won't lose anything by being patient and waiting for the game to go on a major sale. Or if you can't wait, just get it on the console.
The story is boring and... well almost none existent, the characters exist but they are flat AF, you do not give a F about them.
The game is unoptimized, buggy and glitchy and the gameplay loop boring due to broken and monotonous mechanics. No real enemy variety to speak of and repetitive linear segments which also get tedious and boring.
So...
The game is a beautiful, boring and technical mess of a product.
I should have refunded the game when I had my chance... I would not recommend this game even on a sale tbh. I would rate it 4/10 and that is below mediocre due to the technical aspecta. If they wouls fix thise, well maybe a strong 5/10.
How about if the game goes on game pass? XD
This game though... not at all.
Hahaha show off :P (kidding).
Well, whatever your decision is, rest assured you don't need to worry about the FOMO syndrome (fear-of-missing-out), as there's really nothing to see here. Or rather just come back when all is polished and the dlc is out (and subsequently also the ending) which was left with a cliffhanger one, locked behind a dlc paywall which has yet to be released.
Honestly, I also found the review from Angry Joe even more entertaining than the entire game summed up.
There's definitely some element of truth over there.
That 3d printing tech tree thingy looked cool, but the rest, what a waste.
Great graphics in this game and all settings very high at 4K.
Just seem to have had more problems with intel/Nvidia gaming builds than AMD, as their drivers improved over the years.
I always build 'best bang for bucks spent', intel Nvidia or AMD, they all make some fantastic products, apart from recent big price hikes, they now happily know the respective 'tribes' will always pay...
Best.
