its actually quite sad i really wanted to love this game, i was hyped for it, i thought it was going to be a bad ass experience. In reality there is no immersion, no story no gameplay innovation. It's a generic deadspace clone, with clunky controls and combat of a game made 10 years ago.

Sequels, not reboots. And those are actually good games & not nearly as much as this game does it. 2018>Ragnarok tho.

Same here, i could actually get into this game, if not for the constant slow crawling in vents,
slow sludge, climb this ladder, squeeze through here, slowly open the containers on the wall (which in Dead Space they just open with a button press), slowly open a chest.
If they straight up removed some animations or at least sped them up,
sped up the pacing of the game, added a map so i don't backtrack in the wrong area thinking it's the story progressing area, to find out it was a room to explore, to then go back to that room to then go back to the story progressing area once i finish,
I'd ACTUALLY enjoy the game. But as it stands? A 5 or 6/10 at best for me.
That and ofc, better performance, and if possible, better melee combat.
I can't imagine speedruns of this game being very entertaining.

Yep, easily the most overlooked problem of the game so far. It seems like 30% of it is just holding W.

On top of that the combat just isn't that interesting and can be easily cheesed with grip.

No way, you need to press W! AGAIN! every fking game doing it, nothing new! BRUUuUUUH

Agree that animations are too long and artificially prolong the game. I felt reminded of StarCitizen which has similar long winded animations that after seeing them for 2-3 times you don't want to see anymore :D

I woulda said bait, until i saw your profile 100% the game, a guide, art,
screenshots, the whole nine LOL. Dude if you like the game that's fine,
that doesn't dismiss legitimate criticisms. It's not holding W, it's nothing BUT hold W.
I want more interaction, not a constant loop of animations & invisible loading screens.
There's a good game in there somewhere, but it needs work.

Can't wait for Dead Space Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Game designers went so bad, the best games are fookin remakes.

To be fair, you're a prisoner escaping a prison turning to sh.t.
Crawling through vents and maintenance tunnels to access inaccessible areas was to be expected.

A friend and I said the same thing,
That's fine, but when they are long as hell and a slow crawl animation, you either speed up the crawling and/or make the vents shorter. You want a game to be fun, holding W for probably an hour or more in these sequences in a full playthrough is a bit much. You can always design it better.

the spiderman games made crawling in vents acceptable

I see your point.
I have not finished the game yet (just reached the dome with some kind of forest). I suppose you never get attacked in vents to spice things up ?
scoorh Dec 5, 2022 @ 4:27am
dont forget about collapsing floors to spice up vent crawling
