What's the point of Manual Save?

Doesn't seem to do anything related to actually saving a game progress.

Just to manually keep which auto save / checkpoint you want.

Yeah, This is driving me nuts, The Manual saved game doesn't work half of the time, Nothing worse than doing a whole section then saving , Dying then it loads in before you did that section., None of the manual load in points work, as if they all get automatically written over.
Bummer.

It is only to be able to have a certain checkpoint save to be used whenever you like, even when you start another game or have progressed further and all auto saves have been overwritten again. For instance if you like to have a part in the game you want to get back to at any time for some reason.

kinda reminds me of how dead space 3 would do it's saves, really a crappy way for saving progress and losing 5 to 30 min of play cause it didnt do any auto save

The game tells you what manual save function is--it just takes latest auto-checkpoint and creates manual save point that will not be overwritten. You can not move your checkpoint to later, for example after you have looted side-path, it just let you return to it later. Why would you want to do it is beyond me but this is how UE4 checkpoint system works. Its implementation in Callisto Protocol is absolutely horrible since developer picked some of worst location to trigger it. Just another nail in the coffin for this game.

I hade two manual saves and both load to the last autosave.

Manual save so you can go back to this save.
You can not got back to an old Checkpoint save.
