How is the linearity/exporation?
Ive been hearing that the game is much more linear than Dead Space 1 and 2. Instead of having some side paths/node rooms and the ability to backtrack to sell/upgrade stuff repeatedly at stores, the game is much more linear.

Can anyone elaborate?

no puzzles and the same enemy and paid animations lmaoooo. core gameplay of a generic action game.

you basically go forward entire game... no backtracking to previous locations as the way is locked behind you

most locations however have a non mandatory looped or dead end extra room you can check for resources

It's linear but there's a lot of optional areas you can lock yourself out of by going the correct path.

Anyone has any info about the "Beta paths" the devs talked about prerelease? They said we were going to have alternative paths to progress through the game, probably after finishing the game once? I don't remember the info very well.

It's not any more linear than DS1+2. There are plenty of side areas to find and explore. There's no real reason to go exploring these areas though unless have any desire to farm Callisto Credits, health injectors, energy converters or to collect the audio logs for your DataBank. They're definitely there, though. There are plenty of areas in the game with 4-way corridors offering multiple routes of travel and exploration, however generally only 1 of these routes will actually progress you through the storyline. Generally, going any other route will usually require you to backtrack to the area where you decided to split off at that fork in your path so that you can zig instead of zag the second time around.

also, there's plenty of backtracking in this game I don't know what Scoorh is talking about. rikght off the bat, you end up backtracking twice to the prison guard tower where you first see the aliens and get the crowbar melee weapon so that you can cross a bridgen and rescue elias as well as use an elevator and farm some cells for credits. then there's an area with some medical ORs and locker rooms/bathroom areas that require you to backtrack through so you can get a special battery allowing you to operate certain doors. sometimes backtracking is necessary for progression, but i'd say like 80% of the time it's optional.

Pretty much 1 to 1 like Dead Space. Linear levels with side locations to visit that offer extra loot/fights/lore info
If you liked it in DS you'll like CP

There's SOME backtracking, but it often times gets locked off. It is a major issue for me, I hate having a SUPER limited inventory size with no way to sell stuff off since at certain points you CANT go back to a store, and progressing will lock you off some items. I don't like it. I don't hate the game, but that part is a MAJOR downer for me. I liked being able to go back wherever you wanted in Dead Space, and I wish that was the case here too, especially if you take a path and don't realize you went the right way till you are already locked out of exploring the side area. Half the time I'm wasting a lot of time backtracking trying to decide which way is the right way so i can explore the extra first so i don't get locked out of it.
I hate leaving items behind, but you have so little space and such infrequent access to the store that you end up NEEDING to either drop or waste items.

Thanks for the comments.

I wanted a Dead Space successor at best, or a Dead Space retread at worst. These are not the things I wanted to hear.

There's a few branching paths with monsters that lead to nowhere, just to misdirection players.
