Memory leak
anyone else notice this? When I first booted up the game I was met with constant crashes after an hour of play, and after watching my vram, yep indeed I was out of VRAM. As my 2080 is getting up there on the years I checked my checking account, sighed reservedly, then lowered textures to medium and went on with my life.

However yesterday I left the game on while I messed around on my phone taking a little break after getting annoyingly pummeled pretty hard midgame, and after 25 mins my game crashed...on the pause screen. That's weird I thought, but maybe an outlier...then today I get to a scene after about 2.5 hrs of play and I'm watching my vram like a hawk as it's approaching 7.3 GBs usage...then start a new area and bam my FPS cuts in half as I run out of VRAM. I instantly quit to main menu and come back in and yep my VRAM usage is now around 5.5GBs. 100% confirmed memory leak.

This is kinda frustrating because if the devs had their stuff right I could have probably used high textures the whole game, but alas..it's not as if running subnative through FSR isn't tanking the quality a bit on that anyways lol

But yeah just a heads up to be on the look out for this for any of the other guys who might be a little VRAM starved and crashing to boot back to main menu when you hit a checkpoint every now and again

Tell me about it :( been there since day one. Try using Profile Inspector to force-enable ReBar (3 keys to enable) and prevent vram-choking actually crashing the game. though it'll still dip fps for a while instead (and if it keeps leaking it'll eventually crash anyway).

I had to give up using anything with nvenc to stream/record my playthrough because of this. I want raytracing in there, and 8gb doesn't cut it, apparently :/

Were the crashes you're describing UE4 throwing a DEVICE_HUNG-error btw?

Aw man :( I'm sorry just read 2080, thought I saw 3080 but hey ReBar isn't the actual fix for this anyway, promise. At least it's good to know our GPU's aren't faulty and it's an ugly crash with an ugly leak behind it instead <3

Pro-tip: Sincerely, try and see what keeping RT Refliections but using just maxed out rasterized shadows does for you instead. imho it looks amazing, and helps with stability & smoothness..
