Is there censorship for Japan?
In Japan, it is impossible to buy Dead Space and the new part of the horror anthology. The Callisto Protocol is currently available for purchase, but have any scenes been removed from it?

Dead Space is not available for purchase, but you can see the page, perhaps they are preparing their boring version again.

The new part of the horror anthology is not even available for viewing, the game page is closed in the region.

Under these circumstances, I have some suspicions about the contents of The Callisto Protocol.

decapitation is guaranteed to be censored since Japan's law doesn't allow that.

In Japan decapitation is bad but having pedophilia underage high school characters being sexualized is okay, that's how it is in Japan.

Days Gone suffered the same fate of Japanese censorship, and I don’t even know if there is a decapitation there, it seems there was torture. But yes, unfortunately little girls are okay, but showing a cruel scene that complements the atmosphere of the game is unacceptable.

Look up a youtube video on some of Japan's love hotels, offering countless different themes. They have the most broad variety of fetishes out there for such a small country.

I get the arguments against desensitizing people and Japan has horrific crimes like everywhere else. Just not sure where the censorship actually helps grown adults who might not want to see it and are old enough to make that decision on their own.
Japanese CERO refused to rate the game, so Kraftion decide NOT to release game in Japan.
Because remove gore and all that is not intended for game play.
Same goes to Dead Space Remake. Which is also no longer accessible from Japan right now.

Yes, Dead Space is indeed not available for purchase in Japan. But for now, The Callisto Protocol is available for pre-order.

However, I'm worried that the sale of the game may stop on the day of release. So if this is indeed the same version that is being sold in the rest of the world, then it might make sense to pre-order now. The only question is whether this is the same version or censorship already exists.

Seems it's not going to be sold in Japan anymore, Steam might be different considering you already purchased it.
The jp Section of their website just gives a 'error 404' message now.

At the moment, the game is still available for pre-order. But you are right, the links you wrote are really alarming.
I ended up pre-ordering today as I'm not sure the game will stay on sale. Unfortunately, this is still not a guarantee that the game will remain on the account, Steam can still delete the game and return the money, but I hope this will not happen.

Thanks for sharing the information.

I imagine the cancellation won't affect the Steam version. Unlike consoles, Steam doesn't require ratings and I'm pretty sure there's a lot of games on Steam with no Cero rating at all that is still available in Japan for purchase. But yeah, it's worrisome they haven't addressed the PC-version specifically so it might be better to play it safe and pre-order if you're interested in the game. Never heard of Steam automatically remove and refund a game though, so that should probably put you in the clear.

I already bought the game just in case.
I'm hoping for the best, but considering how many games have fallen victim to the CERO rating, I'm mentally preparing for the worst.
Some games do somehow avoid the CERO rating, such as Cyberpunk 2077 or Outlast 2, but there is not much violence there.
There is information that pre-orders will be returned, but whether this also applies to the Steam version is still unclear.

Respect to the devs for not bending to regulation. Meanwhile all crapcom does is bend, bow and lick.
near as i can tell Cero is refusing it clasification. so it cannot come out on consoles.
