Pricing; it's just too expensive. Plus Crystar was the same price same same publisher iirc and that was one of the WORST games I've EVER had the misfortune of playing.
Reviews/reports I've seen of it don't paint it in the best light (repetitive, grindy, tedious, and just not a good game) - I saw Rozalin's review and JRPGJungles report on it.
The story premise doesn't seem that unique to me (caligula, other persona/smt games, maybe even tokyo xanadu ex+?) and I really don't know what the next in line of these games offers that makes it stand out from the others.
I'm eager to be convinced to play it (although I can't see myself paying full price lol) but yeah, these boards seem pretty inactive and the game only has 44 reviews as of now (about 1 week after release).
Story wise, I find Monark to be particularly enjoyable as it provides a more streamlined approach to very familiar narratives - self and shadow being the Act's Companion and Pactbearer for example.
I really don't think it was worth dubbing the entire game in English as I can only imagine how expensive that was. Ideally, that effort should have been spent on polishing the game's performance post-launch but... too late. The lack of sales don't speak for an improved port either
BUT
The game's auto-save is fantastic and the game is designed in bite-sized chunks so any crashes don't take long to recover from.
Im not interested in any of the games you mentioned. I would buy this game if it had a normal price point, thats the only thing stopping me.
I bought Elden Ring instead because their special editions suck so I could buy the base game without caring about deals.
Ironically, this is the same reason why I haven't picked up Dying Light 2 and have been waiting around for Borderlands 3. I hear stuff about years of support + DLCs and I'm just waiting to get that complete edition for a great sale cuz if I buy just the base game for any price I lose out.
Actually, I don't like the battles.
