Thieves Tower

I don’t know if this is a silly question but how do you get into the thieves tower? I found the trap door but when I try to get in some NPC talking about some secret code. I already done the tomb boss which I thought was next in progression line but turns out I skipped a whole lot of content I have no clue how to access lol

It is part of the questline of getting the hookshot. AFAIK it is mandatory.

I get all of that and all but this doesn’t answer my question. I spent a few hours figuring it out but so far I don’t know where to go to progress. Simply, how do I get in? Where is the place I need to go/NPC I have to speak to to gain access? I read the quest log but I found nothing particularly helpful

you need to do the following:

1. continue the main quest in the sewers (bring a book back)
This then gives you the task to get behind the waterfall.
The king says to get behind the waterfall you need to go to a guy.
That guy tells you to get the hookshot in the tower, but to get into the tower you need a password and he sends you to another guy.
The other guy then gives you the pw and you can enter the tower via the trapdoor.

Guy 1 is along the river in the west in a house.
Guy 2 is somewhere south of the main city.

i just found out you can dig up a hookshot before the thief towers, it's near ruins of malgar near the river at the graveyard just dig at graves until the game says you found it and you should find it unless it's just rng

Ah thank you. I realised I had a major case of dum dum and did not follow the quests properly. I am all back on track now, thanks for your help

If you follow the main quest line you should figure it out no problem - the doors leading to sewers are under a church altar in the City of Aventurine

Bear in mind you don't get the hookshot until you get to the second map and do a bunch of main quests so you might see hookshot access points on the first map but you can't use them until later

its where the main quest sends you after traveling to the second island;
you are supposed to go to the chapel in the city, theres a hidden entrance to the sewers

Thieves Tower is in East Fallowfields. There is a draw bridge at the entrance which you cannot access and once you get the passcode go around back and there is a trap door.

I found my first hookshot randomly digging in front of tombstones on the main island. Always worth doing, found all sorts of stuff that way, including set items and mysterious caves (need to have rope with you for those).
