Population Control ?????
I've seen several old posts about this, but as of today - it would seem this had not been addressed! Really, just building tents and such is a very bad solution- You end up with a bunch of unhappy citizens walking around with red houses over their heads.

What is the plan to FIX this ?? The game seriously needs population control !!!!!!

Short term, a shelter holds 10 citizens and is cheap to build. Tents are only useful if you get caught short with new citizens arriving and don't have money or lumber to build a house.

Families with houses breed and pay taxes so building houses is recommended. If you build a house people in tents or shelters will move there. Keep building houses until each family has one. They do not share, 1 house = 1 family.

There are menus and tooltips that show you how many families you have vs how many houses you have. Tents and shelters are not counted as houses but they do cure homelessness. People with red houses over their heads are homeless.

You need to build a house because nobody is happy living in a tent or a shelter for a longer period of time, so that is the solution, tents were never a solution for your citizens, they are a quick fix, a patch on the wound so you can have a bit of time to build a house for them.

And on the left corner of your screen, where you have your resources indicator, there you also have a number of your citizens living in your town, go with your mouse over that number and leave it there and you will have drop menu appearing where you will find how many houses you have free and like this you can control how much houses you need.
Also always leave a couple of houses to be free so your immigrants or a new family can have a place to stay.

Hope this helps.

During the winter period is a good time to build additional houses. You have more available workers during the winter. Also, always build more than what you need.

I have had No-one come (immigration) for 5 (in game) years ....
Stats happy... housing all up between 98 and 100.
!4 empty stone houses all insulated.
The immigration thing on the town hall is on.
Flag up .. People shortage..
No shortage of any material or required products.

It's getting VERY boring just sitting waiting for people to come so I can start the oil production.

What the heck do you need to do to get immigration???

Sorry for not answering, this somehow went under my radar...

So could it be that you are at beginning of your town?? Like first 10 years?? Because you do get some immigration at the start of your game (first 3 years you get up to 5 people a year if I am not mistaken) and the rest is how good is your food source, how much variety you have in your food, and natural birth rate with like 1-3 people coming in your town per year...

So the first 10-12 years are a bit slower when ti comes to town growth since kids take 12 years to become adults, but after that you will be rolling.🙂

Hopefully this helps a bit.🙂
