Hyper Light Breaker

Hyper Light Breaker

Why release a game in this state?
I understand, it is early access. Still, if it was my game, i would make sure that the game is in a playable state. Missing content, features, bugs, glitches etc are things I mostly expect, but performance should be in a state that makes people play it and provide feedback. In the current state however, no one is gonna play and provide any feedback. Plus the negative reviews that scare of more players from playing.

Why not just wait until a playable version is ready to be shipped? I'm just trying to understand why so many developers choose to release games like that. Early Access is no excuse here.

Enlighten me...

I was hyped, and i see a lot of potential. I'm sure there will be patches that fix things but my main point remains...Why?!

Can't tell me they didn't know this prior to hitting the release button. It's almost as if developers are begging for negative reviews which makes no sense to me.

Just DON'T release it and wait until a playable build is ready?!

This game has a boring and bland foundation. It's unfixable without a significant rework. Devs probably realized it and want to cash out of the project now. I expect this game to go on life support and receive minimal updates while the devs jump to a new project.
They may have just ran out of budget and had to release it
Probably had deadlines to meet, maybe it was publisher mandated, we may never actually know. What I know is the dev team is struggling hard enough to start a Patreon AFTER getting publisher money to support this game, so something clearly isn't working out for them, unfortunately.
Ran out of money after spending it on DEI SBI, made a poor desperate Plea video to ask for more money on Patreon claiming they are struggling and blaming the Game Industry and Anti-Woke Gamers.

Maybe they bite off more then they can chew and cannot stomach the admission that they got it wrong.

So easy to blame others.

What is their successful track record before this? Any of them actually release any hit indie games prior to this?

Please get a life. Making a comment like that is just embarrassing.
Can only speculate, but it feels a lot like the game might have hit some major issues in development. HLD and Solar Ash faced similar delays and turned out really good, this feels markedly worse.

yeah but i ain't their mommy and no free pocket from me, i want a product not a last try before nosedive.

i was cautiously hyped before release, game with its style, mechanics and graphics looking nice but no gameplay videos before release and no roadmap even till now and only very vague description of the full release version means game might be declared 1.0 in a month or two with only one content update and we have a dead stinking fish. no thanks, i will look at this game again on its 1.0 release which hopefully is full of content, quality of life improvements and no graphic downgrading like the youtube video suggest they did.

Why aren't we getting any transparency though? Your guesses do make sense but I kind of expect the devs to be honest and answer it. Some studios admit if they're in trouble(Fera Sundered Tribes, Wayfinder etc) and get the support from the playerbase.

A clear explanation on what's going on behind the scenes goes a long way but so many already fail at the most basic forms of communication. Just tell us what's up, what you need, what the plan is. Don't just throw an unplayable pre-alpha onto Steam and say "We'll fix it."

I know it sounds like a rant but at some point....enough is enough. They took the Stalker 2 hype from me. They took Secomd Extinction from me. And a bunch of other games i was eager to buy.

If you can't make a playable game, scrap it. Start from scratch or work on it until it's ready. Enough with disguising a scam as early access!

I don't care if games are being delayed, but i'm fed up with having 90% of my wishlisted games being unplayable. I should be full of joy, awaiting the release of a game i'm hyped for. Not scared of getting scammed again.

Second Extinction is so sad. I haven't checked in in a hot minute but last I heard that game was unfortunately basically abandoned. Yeah I agree, you shouldn't have to be afraid of a new game's release but that's the unfortunate state of games right now. I agree 100%, they should have waited a bit longer till it was ready, it was already delayed several times.

I highly doubt we will get any announcements on what is going on behind the scenes unfortunately. (maybe on patreon!) I do hope this game can survive early access and actually becomes good.
I can probably speak for a good portion of players when I say I wouldnt mind being their "tester" if it was only around $15.

I'll chuck out $30 for an EA game but its got to feel like it had some prior QA testing.

Then again, looking at the Publisher... I remember Torchlight 3 and the release of Remnant 2, so this wasnt too surprising.

Edit: GGDeals has links for it closer to $20 which I can work with.

It's literally a playtester build, even then a playtest build would have these settings with default font and UI. Embarrassing

I'm guessing they just ran out of money. Dev team faced a bunch of layoffs last month. Doesn't suggest they're in a great position when they're making staff redundant a few weeks before early access release.

I'm guessing if this initial release goes poorly (and it seems like it is), they'll probably let the game die quietly and close up shop.

Ah yeah. It's over.
