oof. i managed to get all the ones i needed naturally, but i'm missing the two final filth moves (cuz i really don't care for that type of digimon anyway) and the second wind and nature moves (i tried letting a gotsumon just wail on me cuz guide said they give the earth one but they used their entire mp gauge up without ever using it... several times), but those are just buffs and i never actually use buffs cuz i'm a simpleton like that XD so no big. i'll probably wind up buying them if i go completionist.
Also, buffs are valuable mid-game, Muscle Charge and Burning Heart being my favorites
ah that makes sense. i'm screwed there then cuz the gotsumon aren't aggressive towards me anymore and thus don't group up. well, i actually did finally get the one move i was trying for with them from woodmon instead, but yeah.
And yeah, as stated above buff moves are highly valuable, and I would say unless you only have one attack slot to always include them. Muscle Charge, Burning Heart or even Wing Shoes and Earth Power tend to do more for you in the long run than a second attack can even early game.
I guess it'd be possible to beat the game with digimon that has roughly 4k on the important stats due to cross evolution and buffs. However far as I can tell, you're limited to one cross evolution per day. And getting to 4-5k stats for just a regular mega without food is pretty hard, even with fully upgraded facilities. If you're using the op food. takes a lotta of money even for a discount which also takes time to build early on and lotta time invested into upgrading the facility.
Not sure how you'd do a run on this game with just a first gen digimon with all that in mind. I think that's its fairly possible to get to the credits in the original digimon world with a first gen digimon. Seems crazy hard here if not improbable. Unless maybe easy mode, which I don't know anything about.
easy mode just gets you more bits/items from combat, as far as i know. but maybe that's enough to be helpful, if you struggled to afford food/items without it. i know i sure didn't.
I guess the issue is getting all that within your first generation is what I'm questioning. Bits are easy enough to earn, but not so easy that you're swimming in them. Takes 50k bits per 100 in each stat on discount day assuming you upgrade your facility to the max. There really seems like there's no time for that for your first generation digimon.
ah sorry i missed that you meant specifically in regards to doing it with 1st gen, i was referring just to your difficulty and it taking you 8 gens. honestly i'm doubtful of the 1st gen claim, but i have to at least try it myself before i throw shade and i'm still finishing up my first playthrough (postgame stuff).

I needed to upload them here since I didn't take screenshots on Steam, and I blacked out the tamer name since I used my actual name. And yes that is correct. I ditched the gym as fast as possible.
I trained at the gym until ~300-500 strength and stamina and ~2k HP/MP before looking for a battle spot. I started with the Gotsumon in Server Cemetery, then the Psychemon in Tower Road, after that was Step-Step before they digivolved. I got Birdramon and Stingmon so I got Burning Heart from the wild Meramon, did some recruiting and story then trained at the Seadramon and Saberdramon in MOD Cape until that spot was capped.
After they digivolved to ultimate I trained off the WarGrowlmon (Orange) in Faulty Ex Machina until that spot was capped, and that is where I stopped training. Once I unlocked Seraphimon I fed them exclusively Paradise Fruit Baskets and Sweet Heaven Gems.
Also for moves what I did was save before fighting, if I didn't get it, reload. Saved a lot of time in game. And the run feature really can't be understated.
To my understanding the lifespan without modifiers are 15 days for a mega in hard mode. 18 for normal. 20 for easy. And no information on beginner but I assume the same increase in lifespan so maybe 22 days or whatever.
