Man this is one annoying game
So I grew up on Rainbow Six, Diablo, Splinter Cell, Delta Force and such but this game takes the cake for being THE most annoying game. The entire GR series is fraught with superman enemies who can one shot you with AK47s from across the map even while on moving jeeps.

Gaaah... It is annoying.

After about 30 attempts I passed my first mission in GR:Desert Siege finally. But on mission 2, it is just so annoying.

Enemies just know where you are and the difficulty on Veteran is punishing and really brutal. CQB is useless. Pop even a little pinky out and you're dead.
Your AI regularly gets in your sights and gets hit. Aaaahhh...

Seriously this game has raised my BP almost as much as Demons/Dark Souls initially did.
At least I mastered those games and now I know the rhythm and pattern there so it is not infuriating. There, it is my mistake.

Here, it is just ultra overpowered AI.

I'd rate this game a 9/10 at present. :)

The fact that it's so unforgiving makes it great! :D Same goes for all Rainbow Six games (yes, I pretty much consider this a R6 game)

So I just did the quick save method to advance and now I'm on level 3. Hooray..
kill after every save, reload and hope for the best.
I once accidentally saved where my teammate died... :( Just moved on.

Such an annoying game. The guys one shot kill me ignoring my teammates in front on me and from across the map still with their AK47 while they're going down to the ground... I mean which idiot wrote this programming :)
It's like the cpu calculates a straight line from their gun to me and executes it... Just cheating AI.

There were so many better games back then. At least the GRAW series was better and Future Soldier is also fun and good.

I'd rate the GRAW series at 8.5/10, FS at 8/10 and GR originals around 3.5/10 tbh. I was just kidding about the 9/10

Yeah, at times it feels like the AI is cheating in this. Your teammates are also damn useless. I think Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield is Red Storm's best effort.

The GRAW and FS had regenerating health and deviated from the tactical aspect. Same with the Rainbow 6 series with the Vegas entries. They became little more than arcade shooters with more in common to Gears of War than a tactical experience.

I highly prefer the original to the later entries because it didn't hold your hand. You had to play smart and have a plan. Go slow and use every tool and tactic available. No Halo hopping or drop shooting here. Success is far more rewarding in this game.

Think the bots are hard here? Try Insurgency on Peak - Hunt with 40 bots on Brutal. At current they can shoot across map through trees *at night* with incredible accuracy.

Raven Shield doesn't have regenerating health and it's the last R6 game with the planning phase.

But yeah, you're right about Vegas. They can offer some mindless shooting fun, but R6 games they are not.

I actually really enjoyed the original Rainbow Six games (esp Rogue Spear) along with the new direction Lockdown took and the ultimate direction Vegas series took. They were all amazing and exciting. Loved them all.

Ravenshield, Athena Sword and Iron Wrath were simply amazing...

I love the slower methodical tactical shooters and SWAT 3 and 4 were amazing which released around then.

Too bad that age of gaming is now over. Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield gave rise to the twitchy moronic gameplay along with the same game everytime Halo series.

Those combined killed off these plan and execute slowly shooters... no one really makes them now. And those that do, make multiplayer ones.

Hoping R6 Patriots will have something good...

Oh yea. SWAT 3 and SWAT 4 are brilliant, timeless classics.

And yes, it's really sad how dead the tactical shooter genre is. The same thing is happening to the RTS genre. The "thinking man's" games are dying out :(

Indeed, let's hope the upcoming new R6 game is a true tactical game.

I wouldn't say Battlefield is like Call of Duty. imo Battlefield is a one of the victim of Call of Duty's moronic(as you said) gameplay. the original Battlefield(upto 2142) was not like BF3 or BF4 and it was more like conquering huge maps with low paced shooting(not much than R6 or GR but.) and serious squad based cooperation even without a singleplayer.

Yeah, Battlefield 2 (and 1942 of course) was definitely a different kind of animal. Enjoyed the ♥♥♥♥ out of that game. 2142 wasn't bad either, but BF2 was the peak of the series in my opinion. That game was just brilliant.

When I was like 8 years old I passed the campaign without any problems, probably because games back then were a bit harder anyway.

The AI is hard ! Definitely, but if you advance slow and tactical, you are totally fine.

battlefield 3 and 4 are nothing like that call of duty crap. they ruined call od duty when they started limiting players so drasticly. somehow got into a modded match of world at war on ps3 like 32 players on a small map it was CRAZY fun just like 1 and 2 can be. anyway i love these games think they blow all rainbow sixes out of the water but none of the ghost recons will play. they crash as they start. just says hell no. -athalon tripple core - win 7 64bit - what the hell? any suggestions?

I thoroughly agree with you. I can't stand ames like Arma or GR due to the fact that you have to find enemies at a simulated 300 meters on a screen. Spotting enemies at 300 meters is a lot easier in real life. I can deal with Rainbow Six since it's much easier to spot enemies. But yes, I hate the "no scope headshots" from across the map by supposed rebel guerilla fighters.

One more problem, AIs can see you 300 or 500 away and pinpoint you with some stupid machinegun in OFP/ARMA, they can even see through trees, bushes, grasses.......

There's a huge feeling of satisfaction whenever completing a level, but for these terrible reasons you mentioned. The superhuman enemies with the godlike aim, annoying stuff like that. I can agree with that.

It took you 30 tries to complete the first mission on Desert Siege? That mission isn't hard, at all. I can understand the second mission but the first one is a cakewalk.
