Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon

Cannot start game: "Entry Point Not Found"
So I recently downloaded Ghost Recon and the expansion packs (Island Thunder and Desert Storm), but I cannot get the game to open. When I go to run it, I get an error that says:

Ghost Recon: GhostRecon.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point MiniDumpWriteDump could not be located in the dynamic link library dbghelp.dll.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, installing in a different directory, running as Administrator, and all of the other fixes I've seen on these forums, but nothing seems to work. The game just fails to load. What does this error mean? How can I fix it?

Thanks.

God bless you King Lambent. That worked for me. I was having the same problem and error message as Qubrof. I spent two days looking for the answer and finally stumbled on this post. I just wanted to play some old school Ghost Recon today lol.

Hey there. I've actually done a few things. First, if you have a suite for your drivers (Radeon Software in my case, for example), go into that, and add Ghost Recon as a game. Look for it in the Ghost Recon folder in the steamapps/common directory. ALL of the next steps will be taken in your Ghost Recon folder.

Next, create a text document and call it "options.xml" then add in this text:

<OptionsFile>
<MouseRadiansPerPixel>0.008727</MouseRadiansPerPixel>
<UseMouseInput>TRUE</UseMouseInput>

Save the file.

Next, go to the Ghost Recon application file itself. Right click, go to properties. Click compatibility, and make sure it runs in Windows XP compatibility mode.

Finally, the last trick:

In the Ghost Recon directory folder, find a file called "dbghelp.dll"

Right click it, and select rename. Rename it so it says "dbghelp_old.dll"

Game should run fine. At least that's what worked for me. Runs like a charm on Windows 10 in 2021. Cheers!

Thank you very much, I had this problem with the game on Ubisoft Connect, the game wouldn't open, and now it's working.
