Exactly. The first three Ghost Recon games - in my opinion - are the best of them all for many reasons. Sum Of All Fears is not quite as good as the originals, but worth the few bucks you have to pay to add it. Although I would not consider the SWAT games in the Ghost Recon category, they are great games and are worth playing.
GRAW 1 and 2 on PC were admirable and even pretty decent, but some of the levels suffer from "BS-itus", where enemies are strategically placed to insta-kill players the first time on a map. I like the health system of it as well, which is a decent evolution of the system in GR 2001, giving it a fairer approach compared to a more realistic one, and the addition of controlling vehicles with commands was a true step up in the right direction. If consoles actually got the GRAW that PC players got, I don't think it would have sold as well, due to players moving towards faster paced, less realistic gameplay, but they were good games. The skirmish missions on console were the closest the console games got to the PC versions, where the levels were wide open and you could die a lot faster.
After that it's a wash. I haven't played Wildlands but I think I saw an enemy take like half a mag from a 5.56 rifle and went "Yea no, this is not for me."
If an enemy can take 10+ shots from a rifle, it's not a tactical shooter.
