Can someone explain how Career Plans works?
Selecting any plus marker, +1 or +2 in either the Career Plans window or the normal level up window and doesnt allow additional bonuses. At this point I don't understand what the point of the skill is.

Searched the forum for career plans, only returns were people complaining that it was too strong.

The game randomly generates + or ++ for merc stats as you level up - if you gain the knowledge for career plans you can select a + stat and increase it to ++ by expending a small amount of influence. For example, your merc goes from level 1 to level 2 and willpower has +, strength has ++ and dex has +. If your merc is a ranger you can expend influence to up your dex to ++ OR your willpower to ++... hope that answers your question? As in selecting to up your strength is really of no value for a ranger it makes sense to either up their dex or willpower. by gaining Career Plans as a knowledge it helps you better utilize your leveling up ++'s

you can get any stat at +2 with it, for a price.
first click carrer button under the selection with the stars, than click into the field you want to up, when you happy with the outcome click the checkmark and pay the price.
first + cost 10 influence, if you want to go from 0 to 2 it cost another 40 for the second star on top.
you can use it whenever you coud develope a state point.

Thanks guys hopefully people can search and find this thread when they wonder how it works. I wish the guys with posts saying it doesn’t work would take them down, to make this one easier to find.

It is such a shame this game and the Devs.

And why? Because they explain more or few nothing.
In the 90s there was a manual, sometimes a big manual in the game, with Explanation, and story. Loom had a radio play.

Using Career plans is 2 clicks. Is this really SO HARD that you want a manual?

The UI needs work. Learning how for example to upgrade one of your skills is also not obvious. To even know that one can do that is also not obvious. To be honest it was easier to learn how to download quickbms and unpack res.pak and edit the game files and remake the res.pak (how to make a MOD), than to figure out some of the game UI. Learning career paths is game start over worthy, as is Speed Up recruit (which I modified to give me a few more levels). A role playing game should not make you want to start over when you learn a mechanic. Hiding some of these behind say Smooth Talk is also crazy. You could go days into the game and learn this. Not exactly "fun". I spent forever trying to figure out how to get rid of a refugee prisoner since I couldn't take them to the prison. You can only dismiss while in camp, and not when say the game is paused. Like WTF is the point of the gear icon that has context for when it does something,

Totaly my words. To learn the game is work. And the game in Dos Times were work sometimes too, but with a big manual.

When you make something so complex and something so incomprehensible, than make a manual.

I am blind as well, I have Career Plans and when I mouse over 1 star stat bonus I dont see a way to make them 2 stars.
I dont know what's wrong with dev making manuals or proper tutorials these days...

EDIT: right there is a new button called Career Plans below the stats
