Those animal fights are so boring, it is getting to my nerve.
It is always the same and the reward is just food you can buy in towns.
Need something rewarding to fight Animals , but they are Animals..
Yeah right gathered in huge packs ... rather have smaller packs.
And some elite Animal pack leader then 10 extra boars/wolves/mosquitos that just block eachother .
What we need is something to break the monotome ...
A mixed of Random Tomb with Cursed Village system.
Cause the tombs fight gets boring too need more variety of enemies and not only fight in the dark , but I like the Cursed Village system of limiting your companions to a small select group.
If you're looking for a solution to your slow game play he's some things to consider:
1. The more mercs you have the longer your battles will take
2. The more animals you have the longer your battles will take - and with the exception of bears - the other animals really don't add great value - other than Crocswine - and those are only useful against bionn and other legendary types.
3. an ideal merc team size can be anywhere between 8 and 14 or 15 - so running more really isn't ideal - the merc spread for those numbers usually includes:
Swordsmen with riposte
Rangers - perhaps 2 if you like, at least one assassin -other one (choice)
Archers - usually 2 since there are currently 2 legendary bows
Pike - perhaps 2 if you like, at least one with legendary weapon
Warriors - perhaps 3??/ Berserker, Executioner and Sentinel (sentinel gives you inspiration which doubles entire team movement - this adds good value especially when getting attacked by guards who will reinforce one or two times - in my opinion the best battles are those.
Brutes - perhaps 2, one, at least for the 1 hand legendary weapon - a second one if you like Legion Hammer or using Lucilla......
Fit those options out however you like with respect to professions........ to be honest you really don't need all those mercs nor (wait for it) the war pony.........
Hope that helps???
Smaller makes quicker combats by a large margin - and it's also cheaper in food and in krowns. good luck and happy hunting
PS: yes, when I first started out about 800 hours ago in game - i ran large parties - now with 4 games on the go none of them exceed 15 mercs, excluding the fact I always keep at least 1 or 2 bears
I run more swords man heavy , and nothing beats Swordsman Sword Master..
Archer I only run 1 .. beastmaster and barrage in one... don't care about legendary weapons.
Cause their stats are broken 195 stats at level 12 ... that isn't even challenging anymore the fight .. one ranger just kill 3 each turn and gain 3 valour point.
So if you want to speed up your game, just run all legendary weapons. broken stats stuff :P
with over 800 hours in game i pretty much run anything - if someone is just getting started it's pretty worthy to give them the options to run as many different types to get used to developing their own favorite combinations.
personally, my best game is running 16 level 11 prisoners - that approach presents the greatest challenge regardless of legendary weapons or not... given they only get one attack - sometimes 2 if they have torch, throwing dagger or throwing axe......
and it's a brutally fun battle when going up against level 11 guards with 2 sets of reinforcements - combat ends up being my 16 level 11, one attack, mercs, against 48 to 54 of theirs......
thank you for the answer i'll try to reduce my team but i love those beasts i don't want to say goodbye to them ;)
and the war pony was just for my curiosity i agree it's not so important even if the free inspiration is quite nice
thank you for the tips i will reduce my team
This is NOT entirely accurate - in region locked Guards WILL scale to your merc team size and strength
Main problem is the time to wait for the enemy archers to move. It was an easy fight, they surrendered at 15 enemies left alive and we had some minor armour damage. But the slow pace of it was tedious.
We just respecced the Archer out of Beastmaster and into Infantryman, and got rid of a couple animals. Too many mercs still.
this is cause the Archer AI does too many things ... or has a bug in it.
I already reported this when 23 versus 257 ...
The waiting time is tedious.., but having X numbers of Wrong Doers make their critical auto kill ...
I must say I rather have more leaders on the battle field and wrong doers super stacking to heaven high capped. (just make the passive give more % critical damage but stop stacking it)
This makes multiple Ringleaders and wrong doers a threat...
Without players feeling this is ridiculous.
Almost make more Leaders units .. without bugged stuff like Inquistor Will... that keep working even if the leader is engaged.
You don't need to have Zerg Numbers just make variety of leaders deployed or elite units can make the battle game better then a ZERG that 75% isn't even able to do anything.
Yeah with you on this one.
I don't even understand who would want to play the game this way.
Enemy number scaling is a TERRIBLE idea. 100% worst current feature in the game.
Jump into an existing fight? Guess what, enemies suddenly on par with you and allies disappear.
I liked the freedom of the original X-com and how you could just chuck a dozen low-level dudes into the ship if you didn't have any good ones yet. HOWEVER, that strategy provided you a numerical advantage. What would be the point if you showed up to the UFO and the 3 aliens you expected multiplied into 12 to match your numbers.... It is 'brain dead gameplay,' robbing the player of agency, decision making.
that's actually not true - Region Locked Guards scale
Really, there's no decision making in this game? Aren't you the person who moaned about being giving the specific set of mechanics and steps on how to convert a prisoner to a regular party member and then said they weren't helpful at all.................
