Sweet... some 'dungeon' elements like this would go well with opening up an underground level.
So, I just booted up the game for the first time on steam, and it seems that when I change the resolution from the default 1280x1440 143Hz to what it should be for my monitor (2560x1440 143Hz), it doesn't apply the change and when I open the settings again it still shows the default 1280x1440 143Hz setting as if nothing was changed.
I've had this problem in another game before, and the only way to fix it personally was by changing the resolution setting in a text file somewhere in the game files, haven't a clue if that's possible here or where to find the setting file, but if anyone finds out and sees this please lemme know.
EDIT:
Upon inspection, and changing the resolution around a bunch to different options, it appears that, while it says in settings that it's at 1280x1440 143Hz after I switch to 2560x1440 143Hz, it actually *is* the 2560 resolution, but it just says the wrong thing. So, not really a problem, just a bit confusing.
On the 4th floor however I get guests, barmaids, bartender and musical acts but I can persuade the chef to go up there. I've tried switching their setting to all floors and tried setting them on a strickt "4th floor only" setting but they will not go up the stairs with the rest of the staff. I thought it was a setup problem so I've sold and repurchased all the kitchen items again, tried to make the kitchen bigger (more room to move around and I've taken down the walls and doors I had leading in there, but the chefs still won't leave the 1st and 2nd floor.
Is there anything I can do in the meantime before the next patch to lure the chef up there or will I just have to live with a lot of angry customers not being able to get food on that floor?
There seems to be a problem with the 4-star rooms. All requirements for 1-, 2-, 3- as well as 4-stars are fulfilled, yet I am only shown 3 stars for the rooms.
3- and 5-star rooms work so far.
I have a 3 floor tavern (nothing currently on the 3rd floor) and have two kitchens. I finally earned enough money to attempt to remodel so to speak, and moved my kitchen and bar to the center of the first floor with tables around it- hoping to make a centralized serving spot. Since the move my chefs get stuck at multiple stations in the kitchen (most common stations are the plate station and cauldron) and stop cooking for the entire rest of the day- not even moving back to the cooking counter at the end of the day. I have to start a new day to get them to reset. It doesn't matter what passive ability the chefs have, nor how much they earn/ happiness. I have tried so many things to fix this but nothing works. Help!
Things I have tried:
-Firing the chefs and hiring new ones
-Making the chefs specialized in only one food
-Locking the chefs into the 1st floor only (and vice versa allowing them to cook for all floors)
-Making sure each cooking station is accessible all the way around, and conversely lining the stations up so access is minimal
-Walling the kitchen in and making a door for the waitresses
-Walling the kitchen in but using the archway instead of a door
-Using the garden walls
-Moving the bar counter away from the kitchen counter
-Limiting seating so there are less orders
-Game is fully updated
I found some minor issues:
- It's possible to click-through the photo mode button on the escape menu.
If a selectable item like a bar is behind the photo mode button, the bar will be selected when you click the button. Photo mode will be activated but you will also enter the bar management screen without being able to see it. The camera moves to the fixed position above the bar so you can no longer navigate. The only way out is the [Esc] key, but this first cancels the photo mode.
- one of the bands in my tavern is not facing the public but rotating the stage (with or without the band playing on it) has no effect. I am unable to convince the band members to properly face their audience. Three sides of the stage are free (no walls) but they stubbornly prefer to face sideways...
Maybe it's an idea to give the stage a visual indication of which way the band will be facing (footlights, for example), and allowing to rotate both stage and band according to it.
- I encountered an issue when trying to rename an employee. The UI would give me a really hard time doing that because the name was frequently being refreshed, restoring it to its original value, while I was typing. Finally managed by typing really fast ;-) This does not always happen, but if it occurs again I'll try to figure out what the conditions are to reproduce it.
* Update: this occurs when the game is running, not when it is paused.
- In preparation for the third floor that was to be unlocked soon, I placed two stair cases on the second floor in advance. To my surprise the customers started using these, even though the third floor did not exist. They disappeared from view to appear again a little while later coming down at the other staircase.
Amazingly, they took preference over that long path though the unknown, to get from first to second floor, resulting in a path containing three stair cases (two up, on down) where they could just have taken the existing staircase between first and second...
Aside from the non-existing floor being accessible, it looks like the phantom floor messes up the cost calculation for their paths, probably setting it to zero.
* Update: I saw the same path behavior after the floors were built. I have two staircases (one regular, one spiraled) that go all the way up, which were only connected to each other at the first and fourth floor. Guests would climb the spiral stairs to the fouth floor, only to descend again via the other staircase, even though a (much) shorter route was available.
Other than these minor things, the game has been running nicely for the 22 hours I've played so far. Respect and compliments for your work, I really love it! :-)
