Skipping Turns

Are there really no repercussions for doing it? I've been playing on hard mode managing my turns and actions as best as I can. Then I found out I could just keep skipping turns as long as I'm not at war and basically...cheat? Most of you guys probably won't get it but I'm kinda bummed and it feels like there's not even a real challenge anymore

yes you can skip as much as you want. Sometime ennemies will attack if you are at war but that's all.

Enemy troop numbers increase per turn but only very slowly. Iirc also only for countries that are activated. I think you have to beat the story within x turns for true end as well, but not sure if that was this or first game only.

You won't be able to achieve the "beat the game in [xx] turns" achievements.
Sometimes raiders will appear to try to steal your gold.

But that's about it. Nothing too consequential... Unless you actually care about your final score.
