I disliked how when I was trying to select items off the shelf to inspect, my assis... errr partner, would be walking by and so it took a few attempts to select because it was being actively blocked. When I was mindsurfing, and saw the detective come into the room and throw up, he said "Rebecca" which made me feel like I should have been able to question why he would say the victim's name like he knew her but no option for that came up. I was initially kind of confused by the mindsurfing but I caught on and I like the graphic at the end when I completed it successfully. I also like the three doors idea. Overall I am excited about the game and hope it will be a few hours worth of content (and possibly more than one case, even if that means a sequel).

I enjoyed the demo - there are some really interesting ideas in this game!

* Firstly, I wanted to commend you on the accessibility information on the Store page. I wish all developers provided this information and were as considerate of players with disabilities.

* I was intrigued by a game where you had to be judicious in deciding what to investigate and what to ignore, as I normally want to click on everything that is interactive.

* I liked the art of the backgrounds and the red/grey colour palette. The opening with Mind Cop and Linda in the car felt cinematic.

* I didn't personally enjoy playing the mindsurf minigame, but I thought it was original, and saw that there was an option to disable it. I appreciated that in the demo we could try it a few times against Officer Bartley until we succeeded. (I wasn't very good at it!) I think I worried that in the actual game, if we failed, we'd lose the time spent in the attempt. If we're always allowed to retry mindsurfing (without losing in-game time), it might be worth mentioning that in the tutorial. (It could be helpful to know for anxious players!)

* I didn't like the jerkiness (pulsing) of the Mindbullets’ motion. I think it’d be more pleasant if they had a constant fluid motion (as the central Mindbullet does).

* When Mind Cop asks Linda about the colour of characters’ voices, I thought it was going to be relevant to the mindsurfing minigame… perhaps Linda tipping me off about whose brains would be easier to surf or what tactics I might need. But I didn’t think Officer Bartley’s brain was particularly blue? Or maybe I just need to see more brains to understand Linda's insights.

* I loved the three doors concept, and wanted to see what was behind the doors for more characters. I enjoyed the combination of hard clues/topics being unlocked, and softer or more nuanced information being discovered, e.g. that Officer Bartley is afraid and is not a fan of the Mind Cop. It felt as though, even if you don't uncover information that helps solve the case, you will still be rewarded with information that enriches your understanding of the character or the game world.

* One thing that confused me is the "Back" button in the tutorial pages. Here it uses "Back" to mean go back to the game. The "Next" button takes you forward to the next tutorial page, but "Back" doesn't take you back to the previous page, but back to the game.
Then when you press Escape and display the game options, it uses "Resume" to return to the game.
I'd suggest "Back" should be relabelled to "Resume" to match the settings page. (Alternatively, "Continue" or "Return to game" are also clearer in meaning than 'back'.)

* Also, I didn't understand why Linda was telling me it was late and there was "No more snooping around for today, OK?" when I still had a couple of hours left on the clock. Perhaps it was that the other room in Rebecca’s house is off limits for exploration in the demo/prologue.

* Overall, I wanted to play more, so was disappointed when the demo ended. I wondered how long the full game would be. (I imagine it is designed as an adventure game with a single story, and not designed to be very replayable.)

Depending on which dialogue options you choose, Officer Bartley does say this:
"I come here relatively often, so I got to know everyone who lives here by name..."

I really liked the overall dialogue tone, and the art direction in particular. Mindsurfing was fun and adds a unique action element to the game.

Keep up the good work! :squirtyay:

There's an option to remove the typewriter effect's sound, but none to get rid of the asinine typewriter effect itself, that unbearable brain-jellification gimmick that sends games straight to the bin.

Moreover, in this particular game, the text output is completely out of whack, repeated over and over on clicks, not advancing to the next sentence. Meanwhile, texts are mostly out of their bubbles, largely illegible. Reading has historically worked just fine for thousand of years, until video games decided to criminally crap all over it and make it impossible.

I reckon I won't be missing much anyway, what with that detestable timer mechanic.

Great style otherwise.
Thanks for the demo and good luck.

I just played the demo and found it to be very interesting. I love Murder Mystery games and enjoyed the entire mind cop aspect from the mini game to the three doors something I have not experience personally in this type of genre before.

I did get a little stressed out with the timer but ultimately have played games with that before, I think for at least the first crime scene we investigate there should be a little more time given to the player to get used to how this game plays. As the game progresses I would expect less time so you make more calculated decisions with possible consequences for not looking at one clue over another. Overall I am not deterred by the mechanic itself.

I do think there may be a bit to many sound effects when characters are speaking in text, maybe if they were turned down or possibly fewer sounds. I think there were three overall I heard a pen click when I clicked through dialog, I do enjoy the type writer sound if it were just a bit softer of a sound.

I enjoyed the voice acting and art direction of the game and really look forward to playing more. Those where just a few little things I noticed while playing, but will definitely pick this up day one!

Sorry. The Chinese localization is still in progress. The current Demo is only in English.

I loved everything about this. The simple art style looks really sharp, and I love the contrast between the art and the grittiness of the story. I'm very intrigued by MC and Linda's relationship, can't wait to find out what her deal is in the full game

...except the mind surfing minigame. I didn't find it difficult at all, in fact I'd say it was too easy - maybe I'd enjoy it more if it was more challenging. But more importantly it doesn't FEEL like you are hacking into someone's memories. And the visuals of big, brightly-colored bullets flying towards a brain cube clashes with the rest of the game.

Okay, that would be cool, if the color Linda hears ties in to the brain hacking somehow.

Oh, one other thing: The place we are investigating is supposed to be like a rural resort, right? Usually the places like that I've visited are on windy roads outside of town. But the street you enter the building from feels like it is in a town neighborhood.

Again, I really enjoyed the demo, and am looking forward to the full game - surfing minigame or no surfing minigame.

i liked the demo.
I was surprised when the game gave me more time to finish the tutoriol, has i still had to interogate the cop, but i had already used up all my remaining time inspecting the crime scene, i guess i will need to recognise the trivial and important stuff to inspect as the time seems to be very precious ressource easely wasted (inspecting+talking).
I realy like the colors of the game and the musics, the police station's music is odd, what secrets lies there ??? ( especially when the MC switch off the red light and everythiings goes quiet).
Will there be any daytime actvities ? is there multiple ending depending of the number of clues and interogation of suspects we did during the game ? can we lose ? it would be so interesting to get outsmarted by the murderer.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you liked the demo.

The main point of the Mindsurf minigame is to break up the pace of an otherwise slow-paced adventure/detective game. For more of a challenge, you'll be able to seek out "difficult to surf" characters early in the game. If you still don't like it, there's also a mode that turns the Mindsurf minigame off entirely.

The demo shows pretty much all the things you can do in the game. The only thing it doesn't show is how open the game is. You choose where to go, who to question, and who to mindsurf. It's all up to you. The game has two endings. One if you get the killer, and one if you don't. So, yes. You can lose!

I just finished playing the demo and from there I will probably alos buy the game. At first the time limit was a bit irritating, but it made me thing more about what i really need to do, not throwing everything against the wall and seeing what sticks. That might also make me want to replay the game, depending on how long it takes to complete, just to see what I missed the first time around.
Over all an interesting game, can't wait to dive deep into the wonky world of Mindcop!

Pros:

Unique style, at least have not seen anything in this particular artstyle. (grey-tone gradient, red for highlights)

Three Doors are neat, especially the "Uncertain" one which likely will give us (the player) more room for own imagination and consideration for later plots and characters

Linda leaning down whenever *she* passes thru a door (i'm saying *she* cause i have a hunch there is much more to Linda, and i question *she* is a human).

Also Linda picking up the Cigar-ette stump whenever player exits the idle animation.

Background is very detailed compared to the characters, however, maybe because of the artstyle, didn't (stand out/clash) too much and fits surprisingly well.

------------------------------
Mixed:

Movement with mouse feels odd, maybe because i am used to point and click adventures, i expect the character to walk to where i clicked instead of having to hold. The same goes for intractable areas like doors, stairways etc. Unless i am the only person, maybe make the Character remember to where you clicked and (walk there/use) automatically unless a new click has been registered.

Like the "surfed" although from an animation standpoint it felt a bit... slow. actually the entire game felt somewhat slow. (movement, animation etc.) like somebody slowed down time by just a bit.

The Mindbullets having non-themed colour.
Everything in this game is Red, Black, White or anything in-between Black and White. Except the Bullets. Would be neat if there was a Black, White, Red and Grey colour option for the Mindbullets.

Minigame was easier then expected and so far (from just the demo) it felt like there wont be much dept to it besides frequency of bullets for later stages. It truly feels like a Minigame, which may be a bit of a problem since it seems like the mind-entering is a main-feature of the game.

------------------------------
Cons:

Foot sounds, i don't know why or what it is about them but they felt... off.
maybe it was the lack of other background sounds or the respective volumes.

Are the mind-bullets supposed to be synced to the music? If not maybe just making them have a smooth travel path/animation may be better.

Inspection mode.
Targeting was tricky with the movement controls (mouse only mode) as MC walked over or in front of the objects (since you have to hold left-click) to inspect which then made some of them untargetable, this or Linda walked over or past it as her AI seems to try to keep close to MC. It may be better if she waits outside the Room/Crimescene.

------------------------------
Misc/Questions:

Will the "Character Voice Colour" have any use or be just for flavour, would be neat if the character text colour changed. (this would also negate the non-theme-coloured bullets as there would be more colours in the game)

Do the Mindbullet colours (have any/will have any) other use besides just being another colour, like effects or different impact on (game play/progression) depending on character.

How many cases will there be? if there is only one how long is the expected time to finish?
(Do hope for multiple cases)
