Report a translation problem
I faced the same problem and here is how I fixed it:
1. Open 'C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\my games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles\Player\user.cfg' with a text editor of your choice.
2. Find 'setvar gfx_fullscreen = 1'
3. Change it to 'setvar gfx_fullscreen = 0'
4. Start the game
5. Access the video option and pick 1920 * 1080
6. Start a campaign game or any other mode that would bring up an ingame map
7. Maximize the window
8. Close the game via ingame means
9. Open 'C:\Users\marc\Documents\my games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles\Player\user.cfg' with a text editor of your choice.
10. Find 'setvar gfx_fullscreen = 0'
11. Change it to 'setvar gfx_fullscreen = 1'
12. Start the game
Hope this helps.
going in and edit the config to tell it windowed mode instead of fullscreen got it working on the Win10 PC if anyone else still has this problem happening. (never got it working fullscreen just windowed)
Some older titles encounter issues with Windows 10, due to the change in how the OS operates. It can be worth running with compatibility mode in these cases. Which you can do via the steps here[support.ubisoft.com]
