Gigawing and 19XX are 2 of my favorite arcade shooters of all time, and as far as I can tell this is the first time I've seen them available legitimately for play at home. If I would have been able to purchase them for a few bucks apiece, I would have happily given the compilation an enthusiastically positive review. But if the only way I can get those two game is buy buying a bundle that includes mostly games I already own on Steam, then that counts as a negative point to me. I imagine I am far from the only person who feels this way.
I have not written a negative review, but I can certainly understand why people would be frustrated enough to write one themselves. These are games we WANT to play, but we don't want to be locked into buying dozens of games we have no interest in (or already own) just to have access to the few that interest us. If Capcom makes the games available individually, I imagine they'll get a much more positive reaction from gamers at large.
I also like that I can copy the ROMs to my tablet and play on the go...
It was worth it to me.
But people have been spoiled by "free (piracy) emulation"....
The Beat'em Up Bundle is a little off with the aspect ratio and they also didn't add an option for bilinear filtering like they did in this collection, it makes the classic pixels look great. All I wanted was the correct aspect ratio, wallpaper for the black borders and bilinear filtering. They even have 3x Punch and 3x Kick for the fighting games.
The Capcom Beat'em Up Bundle and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection's problems weren't addressed but this just released and it's the best collection, so far and was well worth the purchase.
Is it?

Absolutely this.
And I agree with OP - the only thing I find particularly offensive about this product is the bundling, and I don't find it THAT onerous. I generally enjoy the way the titles are presented in game better than most Mame shells I've used (Retropie is nice but not on the same level IMO) and I don't mind paying for a license to access the ROMs.
It's a nice title that gets you into the games quickly and is about as authentic as it gets. That's all I want and I don't mind compensating someone for it.
Yes they're all slightly stretched and not 4:3 like they should be. Also no option for bilinear filtering
If you already bought it on the PS5, why are you defending the game on STEAM? and from what I'm reading the ps4/5 version does have online multiplayer
WHO in the hell is complaining about the price?, who? the issue never relied there, it was the experience and false advertisement, people wanted to play arcade games seemlessly, adding an arcade controller feels like a freaking chore, not even MAME had that issue, and they got MAME people on this port, hell this entire collection is a MAME frontend, what you don't get is, that capcom, has not been thoroughly supportive on very specific aspects on certain collections(incluiding SF anniversary), like for instance, Super Turbo, it's a fighting game and there's no online multiplayer? why would you force to buy another collection just to play super turbo(using an outdated version on SF anniversary), THESE ARE THEIR GAMES!, and they're under selling them!.
There is nothing wrong to ask for a good experience, most of the complains come from the fact that fightcade gives many of the features missing in this collection, such as, and most importantly, online multiplayer, If capcom already released a Street fighter collection and a dungeons and dragons collections both with online multiplayer, why would it means so much to ask for it? I mean someone already did it, illegaly, but they did it, you would expect someone as big as Capcom to take on the challenge, but they decide not to?, then it's just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cash grab, why would it be otherwise?,what, is CAPCOM asking for charity now?.
Capcom is not a financially struggling company ok?, I already posted it on another thread, if you're looking for a capcom ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ coercive group go to reddit, it's the perfect place for that, but everyone has the right to give constructive criticism, and there has been plenty, if there's negativity as a majority (because it is) it means that this collection ON THIS PLATFORM has been a let down for people, there's trully plenty of ♥♥♥♥ wrong with this collection.
Why is it so hard to implement online connectivity? WHY!? you're releasing the biggest collection of all, you're selling an arcade collection, do you know what people do in arcades? THEY HANG OUT!, they missed the most important aspect of the arcade experience, they ported it, they screwed up their input compatibility, and practally liied about their business model, and they're one the bigges videogame companies in the world, do you understand now?
Maybe, you don't need any of those features I just mentioned,But there's plenty of people that have better experiences using something unnofficial, and Capcom can't top that? REALLY?! THEY CAN'T ? I don't buy it, I have no clue why are you defending a game company, but the negativity comes from people who's fed up with capcom always giving half assed ♥♥♥♥ when it comes to classic collections, Capcom doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about you,I don't understand why there's a need to defend them, If SEGA could do it RIGHT with their mega drive collection, why can't capcom?,again, they're not a financially struggling company, they can do better.
The solution is to allow us to purchase games INDIVIDUALLY.
That's the solution. The moment they do that I'm changing my review to a positive one.
