There goes the last redeeming quality of the collection.
When my PS3 died i was not able to backup some games that i got in the PSN store, one of them was CVx HD... I got a backup somewhere, from my point of view it's OK because for all the purpose i own that game, i still have the receipt for it..
As far as I know, downloading from "elsewhere" is still illegal in some countries. Plus, who knows what these files or the sites themselves come packaged with.
Being able to compile the ROMs from the DLCs was probably the most legit way of getting quite a few of these games' ROMs without having to own the original arcade machines.
There are places that are safe to get roms.
I have an original Mortal Kombat Rev 5 T unit. So instead of dumping them i found the roms for my board. Just to name one, i have other arcades boards that i never dumped the roms.
I just get the same roms that are inside my arcade boards.
Same with the consoles.
In the case of this collection, i got the whole pack. Even some games that i already own. So in my mind im not doing anything wrong in getting the same rom files i already paid for.
Sega let the Sega Genesis ROMs loose to paying customers...
This will just upset more people and deter them from buying these bundles.
It's awesome when developers make their ROMS available. There are lots on Steam that have, but when it's one of the big name developers they don't because it's their products that are going to be on the ROM sharing sites. It's their products that are going to be part of the bootlegged "Mini Console 626 GAMES!" systems on Facebook marketplace.
Why would someone spend $41+ to get ROMs to give them away when there are sites giving them away for free?
I've played the emulator over hours. All I want is to play the games on my Tablet. How that hurts Capcom when I paid them already is beyond me.
I buy MP3s and play them on my tablet and PC. Even the greedy music industry allows that...
How Capcom is preventing piracy by restricting paying customers is beyond me,
I do it from a moral standpoint and i think that 99% of those who buy old boards do it either from a moral point or because they like to collect old boards.
I'm all about them re releasing those old arcades games even if i own the boards or cartridges. I also got Metal Slug 1 and 2 mvs cartridge yet i got the re re release done by dot emu.
So from my point of view, i'm not doing anything wrong when i get a copy of the files i already paid a lot of times.
Also sometimes the PC release have nice things, for example i made a bartop for MK games and i'm using the bezels that came with the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
