Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition - Free for owners of the original?

If this game is to be remastered, owners of the original should receive the update for free.

Other games have done it before (Mafia, Bioshock, Quake...), It should be normal. Especially considering that this version has problems and there are people buying it.

Looking at how they handled the AC3 Remaster, the original version will probably be delisted and the original owners will have to buy the Remaster like everyone else but lets see what happens.

Nope, the only thing we have is the ESRB classification. Considering it's a 20th anniversary edition, maybe they will drop in the 11th of this month.

Stop tolerating this, contact local consumer's right organisations and lobby a laws that will restrict this and will force all publishers to list older versions on markets.

Well, selling broken products is actually illegal. And this version is broken as hell. It should not require thousands of fan tweaks to run properly.

I had an internship in one of those organisations. They are indeed really really really open for so much pro-consumer stuff (at least here where I live, and by party members that lost the elections this year, but anyway), they are so eager to help anyone with any case, but gaming is so convoluted at times, they struggle at times. It's a digital market that kind of uses traditional market laws in its advantage so while it's easy to win individual cases most of the time, rewriting the entire laws is a different pair of boots. Lawmakers are mostly old people that don't really understand the differences. It would need more than just lobbying, we need to come up with the actual project for those laws and then lobby for them specifically.

I think companies avoid any law threats by just letting the people who bought the old versions maintain it because we know they can take the games away from us whenever they want.
But honestly, the old version of this game getting delisted isn't that big of a deal in my opinion, it's broken as hell to get up and running so unless they mess the remaster big time (like the GTA remasters we got) I won't be missing this version when it's gone.
Plus you can always sail the high seas anyway.

Yeah they should have let everyone who saw Star Wars growing up see the remasters for free in theaters also.
The entitlement is at critical mass at this point.
