Assassin's Creed Controller Fix
This should work for any controller (PS, Xbox, Generic etc...)

Head over to http://www.x360ce.com/ and download the latest version for 32-bit games, extract it and place the "x360ce" file in your Assassin's Creed/Assassin's Creed II install directory

\steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed

Launch "x360ce" as an Admin (right click), it will prompt you to create the "xinput1_3.dll" file, create it, once the UI has loaded, plug your controller in, it should automatically detect your controller and apply the correct settings, click next, click finish, check the buttons are mapped correctly, click save, close the program.

You should now be able to launch AC1 or AC2, enable the controller in the options menu and enjoy.

This should work for any version of Windows any with any Dinput or Xinput controller.

Did your vibration (rumble) works while your are on wireless ?

be sure to run the program as an administrator. Allows the program to map keys correctly.

Yes, it works. But sometimes vibration doesn't stop.

I've installed the x360ce.exe in the game directory of Assasins Creed, the vibration is not working.
I have Xbox One Wireless controler. In game the vibration option is enabled and I checked "force feedback" in x360 but nothing.
Can you share your settings ?

the other thing that left, is to try playing with cable.

I found a solution for the vibration, From the 360ce I enabled "Advance Tab", Force Feedback pass trough, But the mapping of the prefered controls was terrible. However now vibration works with wireless :steamhappy:

Will this work for AC3? I'm having the high profile issue. Keep tackling guards i'm trying to pick pocket.

I am not familiar with the high profile issue in AC3, but this 360ce is an application that is installed per game, it may be required to configure the controls which is little tricky first time. It is easy to delete.
Also it contains already configured profile mapping controls for a lot of games. you can try this if you have free time.

The only issue I have is when trying to navigate the map. I use the left stick to move around, but it will constantly scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select the back button. Is there any way of getting around that?

I'v tried everyhting in this thread, cant get the triggers to work no matter what i do, anyone have any ideas? Running windows 10, i'v tried a 360 pad with the wireless reciver, a xbox one pad, and a DS4 Pad. Nothing will let me map the triggers.

EDIT: I got it, found out it wasen't working because i had the Xbox controller support toggled in steam (im guessing that overrides any other settings). Not the ideal solution, but it works like a charm now so cheers for the fix.

Xbox support is something strange for me in Steam - when I enable it - my game pad stops working. Maybe there is good documentation for this, but I need to research it. For now, it's a good point to check whether this option is enabled.

Wireless with adapter.
Some people don't need these files, but most people who have a wireless controller, 3rd party controller or Xbox One controller will need these files so all the buttons do what they are meant to do, I can play without the files but I cannot use RT, LT. I have to run with RB and this gets very uncomfortable.

Were you ever able to find out how to enable the left and right triggers or did you just always use the bumpers?

The x360ce fix didn't work for my controller (SteelSeries Stratus XL) on AC2 - I don't own AC1 for Steam/Uplay at the moment. I did a LOT of searching, but eventually found a way to fix the issue.

It requires a program called XInputPlus, which is in the first link when you Google that. I followed the instructions HERE - given, the instructions were given for another game, but it worked, and I now have full controls and am able to actually play the game with it. It adds an Xinput file and configuration (.ini) file to the game folder - I would search for the app on Google rather than use their link, seems like I got an updated version where I didn't have to edit the INI file (beyond a muck-up on my end where I didn't change either the Start or Back/Select button - one was B9 by default, and I had to change the other to B9.

I had two MAJOR issues with controls previously. Firstly, no triggers (except for functions controlled by the sticks), secondly, the left/right directions on the left stick were ridiculously sensitive, making it impossible to control Ezio/Desmond. I couldn't even beat Ezio's brother to the Church roof until I did this. Hope this will help at least one person be able to play the game successfully

Actually, I just tried the download link from the Steam thread I linked above - when you click it, it takes you to the right page, and the top link (in blue - and in English where the page is mostly Japanese according to the page translator in Chrome) is the version I used. Makes it a touch easier, at least.
