The difficulty of that fight is just the gank.
First I have to lower my defense to destroy the spirit with my lamp. Then I must deal with 3 wolves while having to dodge two hit kill attacks and that fat POS that keeps dashing at me. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to an extent I've never seen in a souls game. No dev understands Fromsoftware's philosophy on difficulty.
I mean...FromSoft has had some gank fights. Carpa Demon, second phase of the Crystal Sage, Shadows of Yharnam..buncha others.
I have played all of the fromsoftware games. Aside from DS2 (which wasn't even made by the real team), the games were never infuriating if you knew how to play. Most of the bosses in LOTF are actually amazing, but this one just feels cheap and out of place. It's driving me nuts.
sure ?
I assume you mean all their souls games :p
I'm not very far and it has already had weird extreme difficulty spikes. For example, the first actual boss was so hard on the corrupted class or whatever it's called that I quit and started over with a new class and killed her in two tries. That boss is extremely hard for a first boss. The moves are all easily read but if you get hit it does like 75% of your health. Also, the perfect parry system is trash. Why punish a player by doing chip damage if they do a perfect parry?
Anyway, the reason why I replied to you is because I'm curious about your take on DS2. What did you think was so hard in DS2? I think that DS2 is the easiest one of the bunch.
The fight has four layers of hindrance.
- Blue bulb shielding them all
- Passive wolves distancing themselves from you that dash and leave ice on the ground
- Crippling water taking up a majority of the area
- Rehashed mini boss that's now your problem if you get sent to Umbral
Capra Demon has the dogs and that's it.
Of course it's a skill issue, bro. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the game, it's just a difficult boss for what's basically the first boss. In fact, I finished the game today and I'd say that she was the most difficult in the game. The game overall is not very hard, especially once you get OP (which is like halfway through). You can easily destroy things in one hit with ranged attacks, and on my strength build I could just face tank attacks while charging heavy attacks and recover the health when it lands.
1. Kill wolves
2. try not to go umbral because there is that stone face mob that is just being annoying
3. while going umbral it does remove the lake and won't slow you down, however that's a rookie bait. While there is water, the boss's axe swing can send the icy shockwave ONLY when he swing on the water. Lure him to the corner of the room without water and he does minimal ice just normal swings mostly
It's just another gimmick boss really
