There are some amulets and rings that increase sorcery power, make it possible to mix magic types etc
Also improving catalysts help though you need to find the blacksmith first.
Lastly there is a hidden umbral pure spellcasting class so that might make it even better.
The cost for basic spells is pretty reasonable, they can be chucked a pretty long distance and do alright damage. They also give you magic regen consumables pretty often, I always have some on hand, more so than the life gem style consumables, thats for sure.
Being able to pick off a ranged before the encounter starts proper is such a boon.
I've noticed that it is far easier to proc ignite with weapons than with inferno spells, though. Kinda strange.
LOL
I've not tried Inferno or Umbral magic yet, but I'm sure they have some similarly nasty stuff. Possibly the biggest single issue in the game at the moment is that as well as the magic being powerful, there are enough melee weapons that scale with Radiance, Inferno or both that pure physical builds seem to be at a bit of a disadvantage.
