Why not have both male/female and body type a/b options
recently the ceo of ci games, the company that publishes lords of the Fallen, made a poll on twitter asking which players preferred, with male/female winning. he supposedly wants a player-first studio but switching a/b with male/female would still alienate the players that liked the a/b option. not to mention a twitter poll isn't exactly a reliable way to get a sample size of what a majority of the players, or gamers in general, want. by implementing a character creator with body types and genders, similar to what Baldurs Gate 3 has, you would be able to satisfy the most amount of players without really excluding anyone.
more options not less. what do you guys think?

If having male/female always cause woke-people to shout "bigot", why not just argue with, that it is another world than Earth, where they only had male/female gender and not the one million genders they want us to have?
I mean in a fantasy world, you can define what gender they have and that it has nothing to do with real life.

When I was born the doctor said,"Congratulations it is a boy." He did not say,"Congratulations it is a type A."

the idea of genders besides male/female has existed since before gaming was a thing. take a look at the mahu from Hawaii as an example

Because Body Type A/B is nothing but political conditioning backed by Blackrock and ESG financial scoring. Cut the politics. Male and Female actually has a meaning. Nobody understands what Body Type A/B means specifically. Tragically, Body Type A/B/C could actually be used to further deepen roleplay elements like character physique or stances/animation sets but isn't.

actually a/b having no meaning is the point of them. It makes role-playing easier. with type a/b you can roleplay a male character who looks female, a female character who looks male, characters who are genderless, or even multi-gendered, as well characters who look like the gender they are to. with male and female because they already have a meaning role-playing is more difficult with them as it locks out other options. after all you can't be genderless and male at the same time right?

There's no meaning to them so that's why they're getting removed. People can select Male or Female because that's what they are. Roleplaying that way doesn't change the fact that it is a Male or Female.

I mean the concept of genders besides male and female has existed before gaming was even a thought. besides if the game had both other players could pick from a/b if they wanted, while you could still pick from the male/female options. so there's really no problem with putting both in the game
Concept (abstract) and biology (concrete) are different. Male and Female biology exists in reality. Gender politics are just ideas. You will select the biological sex of your character then you can roleplay your characters political opinions in your mind.

what if you don't want your character to be intersex? what if you want them to be sexless? a/b just makes role-playing that easier while still letting you role-play either a male or a female too. and if both a/b and male/female options were in the game each individual player could just pick whichever they wanted

Sure, we totally need the options to read "Male/type A/phenotype Alpha/masculine/manly/testosterone/XY chromosome/I have a ♥♥♥♥" and "Female/type B/phenotype Beta/Feminine/womanly/Estrogen/XX chromosome/I have a ♥♥♥♥♥" just to clarify for the small minority of whiny argumentatives that no one cares about their beliefs here I suppose.

Kinda begs the question, why do every single other body type implementation in games remove male and female entirely, and not do "both male/female and body type a/b options".

If one sides opinion can be ignored in all those examples and it be considered good and progressive, but that time it's the other way the dev has to offer a fig leaf and capitulate to please everyone? nahh bro, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. This was the whole point of changing it to male and female. They're playing by your rules.

If the dev is going to be based, be based, not this one foot in the door fence-sitter.

a/b is technically the easiest to role-play as it lets you imagine your character as any sex or gender without restricting them to only two as opposed to male/female. but if the CEO wants to have a "player-first" studio then the game should have as many options for players to pick from as possible, not less.

Because there are only two sexes, and they are male and female, man and woman. It's not just biological reality, it is now federal policy in the United States.

Why the heck would anyone waffle on about ''body types ABCD''? When I think about body types, I think fat, skinny, curvy, etc.

It's time to abandon this stupid gender nonsense. The game is over. The adults are back in charge now.

there are intersex people too. and some people don't like being forced into a binary. also gender wasn't abandoned the first time trump was in office why would it be abandoned now? the idea of genders other then male female has been around long before he was even born.

I don't see why those people and their "Gender beliefs" would be restricted just from it saying male/female, because as they keep reminding us according to them gender and sex are not related to one another. So there wouldn't be a problem (if this is indeed true).

Yes they exist. And they almost always choose to refer to themselves as male/female regardless because... well kids have bullied each other for less. They're not the ones creating a problem.
