Anyone got a link that explains the Umbral?
I don't mean some vague BS like every single website (including the wiki) spouts. I WANT NUMBERS, I want precise explanations behind the mechanics of the umbral.

Really wish this weren't so damn difficult to find.

What specific mechanic/numbers? You can either pull yourself into it or access by dying or being hit be an umbral enemy.

There is also the multiplier displayed, which shows, how much you gain from each enemy. It raises until the red reaper appears to 3x, iirc. The build up time can be slowed down with with some special effect of umbral eyes and rings

This sorta stuff, yes.

Also like to know the exact effects and buildup of staying in the umbral. The scarlet reaper is a given, but prior to that I've noticed the number of "statues" that appear in the umbral increase in both number and tier (more dangerous enemies) the longer you stay.

That I don’t think anyone can give hard numbers short of looking in the games code. Pretty sure it increases as you kill umbral enemies.

Is it based on how many enemies you actively kill, or just by staying in the umbral too long? Also does the time limit for the scarlet reaper build up when killing enemies?

Not sure which wiki you're using, but the one by Fextralife is by far the best I've used: https://thelordsofthefallen.wiki.fextralife.com/The+Lords+of+the+Fallen+Wiki

Umbral is the dead version of the Axiom world we all live in. Umbral is dangerous, that's why the longer you are in it, the greater the reward. If there was no Crimson Reaper, or if you could easily kill him, you could stay in Umbral all day long. There is no buildup of effects, there is a timer, and when it hits RED, it's reaper time. Everything visible in Axiom (normal) is visible in Umbral. While some elements of Umbral seem to overlap/cover the world of Axiom, you can't MISS anything by being in Umbral. You could start the game in in, see everything, do everything, and end the game in Umbral, if it wasn't for the Crimson Reaper's trillion HP. Umbral can be considered as an "unfiltered" view of our world, maybe, or an overlay on Axiom. It isn't a separate place, there's no teleport, it's just the dead world/the world of the Putrid Mother we can only see with the Umbral Lamp. Does that help? Feel free to ask if you have more questions- I don't know everything, but I've gone balls-deep on this game since about mid-June, putting in about 100 hours in 2 weeks, + 100 in the wiki and videos.

It feels like it does, but again I don’t have the numbers to prove it.

The timer only changes when you socket Umbral Eyes that change the amount of "Dread" you accrue, or if you use a ring that slows down Dread. It has nothing to do with the number of enemies you kill.
Bankai9212 Jul 3, 2024 @ 9:33am
To correct my original statement it felt like it did.

The UMBRAL EYE OF BETRAYED ELIARD will slow Dread if socketed first, then the UMBRAL EYE OF DIETER and UMBRAL EYE OF IORELO THE CURSED KNIGHT will slow it further socketed as secondary.
The UMBRAL EYE OF MARCO THE AXE will give your character a cool red glow around the head/neck, but cause Dread to build up 40% faster.

All of this comes from the Fextralife link I posted. It's become a Bible, of sorts.
Another useful link is FightinCowboy's walkthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbzmaVqPqYI&list=PL7RtZMiaOk8jOuMYMp4Sez1Z6u3y9vvzz&index=1

Bankai, it feels like it does because you're occupied having fun killing sh!t, not paying attention to a clock. That's ALWAYS how I get caught in Umbral.

Having enemies constantly spawn isn’t my idea of fun. Depending on the area you’ll be dealing with the mobs along with whatever tough enemy your dealing with. Not to mention not knowing where the vistages are keeping you in umbral for longer.

Its to encourage you not to linger there for too long if you can help it. Along with the scarlet reaper.

Speaking of which, do you need something special to kill him? Last time I ran into him I tried but I didn't seem to do any damage at all, it was like he was immune to physical.

You need to go umbral several times to progress in the game along with healing upgrades. It’s not really something you can avoid when you need to enter it to progress.

As for killing him probably, just would take awhile can’t prove it but I think it scales to your player level. That or he’s super high level.

Pick an area you are okay with. I like the open area right by the VESTIGE OF CHABUI to pop Umbral and go on a killing streak. There's an Umbral exit and the Vestige very close by, so it's really hard to get caught. The area I'm talking about is right after Skyrest Bridge.
