The first boss is harder than any Souls-like boss
Over 20 deaths and I still can't beat her. No boss in Dark Souls was this hard, or any other Souls-like.

So if you've read reviews of people claiming the bosses are easy, they aren't, don't worry.

Inb4 git gud, skill issue.

EDIT: Finally beat her after ~30 deaths. I will say this, her moveset felt fair. What moves she's going to do is easy to read and you have a reasonable amount of time to dodge/parry. The only problem was that if you're not perfect and get hit, you lose a large chunk of your health even with several points in vitality. Unlike Elden Ring's bosses which are garbage design, but they had less health so I could kill them faster.

I probably could've made the fight easier by using the resist holy consumable, maybe adding fire to my weapon for extra damage. But that early in the game you have so few items and I didn't want to waste them.

To all those people beating their chest saying "She's easy", what games do you play for a challenge then? I'd be curious to know, because I like difficult challenges.

I've beat every Dark Souls boss, most souls-like bosses, 1000's of invasion kills, All the Valkyries in GOW, solo'd Remnant, and was pleasantly surprised to find the first boss of this game to be such a good challenge.

I put her on about the same level as Pontiff, only harder. She reminded me a little of the Valkyrie fights in GoW, probably giving the edge to Sigrun in terms of difficulty.

Serious question though. You can give me jesters or whatever, call me names, say skill issue, all good, but just tell me where the REAL difficulty is.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Also congrats to OP for beating her.

Criticizing me for coop when I literally just posted a video of me soloing her with a starter character is also pretty clownish.
And all of them were super easy compared to the very first boss in this game. But this boss was overall fair, besides the damage output, which is why I stuck with it. From Soft's games have poorly designed bosses with Elden Ring being the worst, which is why I get bored with them and don't fully complete them.

Dude... you know at this point, it is just your ego and not admitting the fact the Pieta is really easy... Don't double down on something you know is not true. You can do it here because it is a game forum and the worst people will react to your BS is give you a clown and ridicule your online personage.

Don't even try this in real life...

I made a new character, radiance dual wield build. Beat Pieta on my second try, only because I had so much practice with her. At the very start of the game she remains very hard, until you've practiced against her a bunch. Other bosses I beat first try since I had already done them and dual wielding is OP. Up until Hushed saint which still took several tries.

Point is Pieta remains the hardest boss I've faced in a souls-like for that point in the game.

Im far from a souls expert and I found her fairly easy. 2nd or 3rd try for Pieta.
I still think Midir was one of the hardest bosses.

Iudex isnt hard, his attacks do a reasonable amount of damage.
This one hits for nearly your full hp every hit.

The problem is dodge animation in this game is OP and the invincibility frame is the longest of all the souls like series I ever get to play. It is like moon walking in front of the enemy. Seeing the blade hit you but does nothing. Not to mention, almost every boss attacks in this game screams, "I am going to hit you you better dodge!" in slow mo. Super telegraphed.

She's not hard at all. Only took me about 5 tries to figure out her move set. Lies of P is far harder then LOTF. You just need to be calm and patient. Maybe 3 swings at the most then roll out of the way. If your having issues then just use a poison bomb or anything that puts a status effect on the boss and run arround in circles until the boss dies.

Shes very easy. Go fight Elianne in NG+ and you know what an actual hard boss looks like in this game. Every base game NG boss is super easy. Everything was between 1 and 3 tries.

If you have to do it in NG+ for it to be hard, then it isn't actually hard at all.

I died a few times to her, though I quickly realized that in a way she's kinda like Gwyn (I know, heresy, she's nowhere near as good) as in, it's a parry check, if your parries are on point Pieta is incredibly easy and she teaches you that parrying in this game is ridiculously easy compared to just about any other soulslike

I agree the first boss is pretty hard for a first boss, and for a player who just started playing.
I also tried around 20- 25 times.

But one day later I rerolled to a much weaker character and did the fight in 3 tries.

her moves are easy to see, once you know them.
I just tried to "hug" her all the time, so she would use melee, and I knew how to dodge those 95% of the time
