The first boss is harder than any Souls-like boss
Over 20 deaths and I still can't beat her. No boss in Dark Souls was this hard, or any other Souls-like.

So if you've read reviews of people claiming the bosses are easy, they aren't, don't worry.

Inb4 git gud, skill issue.

EDIT: Finally beat her after ~30 deaths. I will say this, her moveset felt fair. What moves she's going to do is easy to read and you have a reasonable amount of time to dodge/parry. The only problem was that if you're not perfect and get hit, you lose a large chunk of your health even with several points in vitality. Unlike Elden Ring's bosses which are garbage design, but they had less health so I could kill them faster.

I probably could've made the fight easier by using the resist holy consumable, maybe adding fire to my weapon for extra damage. But that early in the game you have so few items and I didn't want to waste them.

To all those people beating their chest saying "She's easy", what games do you play for a challenge then? I'd be curious to know, because I like difficult challenges.

I've beat every Dark Souls boss, most souls-like bosses, 1000's of invasion kills, All the Valkyries in GOW, solo'd Remnant, and was pleasantly surprised to find the first boss of this game to be such a good challenge.

I put her on about the same level as Pontiff, only harder. She reminded me a little of the Valkyrie fights in GoW, probably giving the edge to Sigrun in terms of difficulty.

Serious question though. You can give me jesters or whatever, call me names, say skill issue, all good, but just tell me where the REAL difficulty is.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Also congrats to OP for beating her.

they are going to be easier, never died to a boss that much after that.

A few things that helped me with her was I went back and grinded some levels for more health, gave up shields and dual-wielded for the extra damage, realized backstep has i-frames, and most importantly, when she cloned herself, I just got the hell outta Dodge instead of trying to engage her in those moments.

I'm like you though I don't like really using consumables to much, because once they're gone, they're gone.

Y'all have a Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the response. I hope you're having a nice Christmas.

I'll be getting Lies of P soon, it came down to LotF and LoP last purchase, I decided to go with LotF because of the invasion system.

Sekiro is a "meh" game for me, I didn't like the posture break system at all, although I do applaud From for trying something new.

I'm sure since there are sooo many people who claim Pieta is easy, there must be some better recommendations out there.

C'mon edgelords... teach me.

Alot of the people making posts about how easy she is are souls vets like me, I physically can't look at her as difficult because I have alot of experience on my plate so I was able to practically just beat her first try pretty easy but I've also got alot of time spent practising parries and dodging and such.
For anyone who hasn't spent as much time as myself or others I can totally get it, I personally say landing perfect guards against her is definitely the fastest and easiest way to kill her on a new character.
"Well perfect guards are difficult for me" If this is the case then take a shield or some other smaller weapon, they have more forgiving windows and will help you ease into the system and trust me, it makes from early to mid game 100x easier while you learn the enemies, unsure about the timings? just guard a bit earlier than you think you need then dodge away and try to adjust your timing accordingly.
This is pretty drawn out but I hope it's nice to hear as opposed to the usual useless "MY EGO IS THE SIZE OF A SKY SCRAPER GIT GUD AND THIS GAME TRASH EVEN THOUGH I DO NOTHING BUT PLAY IT MORE THEN COME HERE TO COMPLAIN MORE AND IF YOU THINK OTHERWISE YOU DESERVE TO DIE AND ARE BLOCKED" had that happen alot lmao so I know how annoying and weird people are in this community

I hear ya man. I'm also a "souls vet", and I still think she is hard.

Also, with this boss, forget shields, as the wither mechanic in this game is a little un-balanced. I'd personally prefer a "chip" system, as that chunk HP loss on one hit is a bastard...

But I digress.

I like calling out these forum tryhards because they never have video, never have back-up, only the "I'm the most baddest EVAR" argument, which I think is funny.

Anyways, thanks for the response. Y'all be good.

At least 30 deaths now. I've beaten Hellpoint and Asterigos, got 3/4 of the way through Dark Souls before I got bored, and a little of DS2. Probably some other Souls-likes as well. I've never had this much trouble with ANY boss from those games.

lol... maybe you should finish at least one before making these claims? Pieta is a tough first boss, but an absolute joke compared to any of the heavy hitters from other souls/soulslikes.

Decided to accept the challenge. Haven't played in a couple weeks but just beat her at lvl 10 in a few tries with a hallowed knight using shield and parry. It's not pretty, I can definitely do better, but I got it done. I have a better shield/parry vid of Tancred. I think shields can definitely be viable.

Btw, the argument isn't that we are "the baddest ever", it's that pieta isn't all that hard. I'm probably a pretty average player tbh.

If it's not the first time you fought her, it doesn't count. Give me a week and I'll beat her blindfolded with a dancepad for a controller.

I want to see your first encounter with Pieta, Mr. Challenge Accepted dude.
solaris32 Dec 25, 2023 @ 7:53pm
^^ Exactly. I could probably do that now with a tad bit more practice.

Ok let me just hop in my time machine...

Beat her in a few attempts the first time but I summoned coop since I was streaming for some people and wanted to keep things moving along. You'll have to take my word for it.
