Invasions in this game are kind of BS. Bad balance, unfair times for invasions.
I don't mind invasions in a souls like, but in this game they are kind of bullcrap, because people can make broken characters and you get invaded at times where you have no chance in hell to defend yourself even if it was a good fight.

Firs of all, the balance is completely broken in this game. Every time I get invaded it's some player who takes basically no damage from anything I do. I'm not sure how they do that, but when I hit someone with a spell that does 900 damage on an a regular enemy and it hits them for 90 there is no way to win that fight. Like, sure, tone it down to the point where it doesn't just oneshot them, but if they can eat ten spells in a row without even dodging but still kill your regular character in two hits the game is just broken.

If the only way to stand a chance against an invader is to cheese the game to make a character who effectively can't be hurt then the game is fundamentally broken. This is a souls like, I'm not interested in having to cheese the game with a character who is so tough that all the actual game content becomes trivial just so I don't get rolled in PvP by someone who doesn't even need to dodge anything to win.

Secondly the timing for invasions in this game is completely absurd. In Dark Souls you usually get invaded right after you step away from a bonfire, or when you enter a new region where an invader is hunting. That's fine.

In this game every time I've been invaded it was toward the end of an exploration run, when I'm out of mana, out of healing, just trying to head back to a vestige, and then the game dumps an invasion on me. I've literally been invaded while a red shade is going after me. If you're going to hit me with an invasion when I'm already out of healing and mana just give the guy his hands and don't waste my time with this nonsense.

I generally don't mind invasions, but PvP should be a competition. There are a few things that ruin competition in a video game. Bad balance where you can't win unless you're playing a character who mechanically breaks the game is a huge one. Getting forced into PvP at times where you can't win is another one.

Fix the balance. No character should be effectively invulnerable. Set the invasions up so they happen when you actually have resources to fight, instead of constantly putting them at the end of your run when you can't win anyways. If Dark Souls can get this right since 2011 then this game can get it right too.

Totally agree with all the points made here. It’s better to turn off online if you’re exploring a new region. I got invaded like every 10 min and always at a point where I have no health, heals and surrounded by enemies. Not any competition for someone invading at that point and no chance to escape. I just ended up jumping off a cliff as I didn’t have a chance to begin with. In DS it was much more even odds of survival.
Unlike the bugs, balancing builds could very probably the hardest and require more effort. It may take months. So, for the time being, turn off multiplayer unless you are doing coop with a friend. With a friend, at least both your PVE build had some chance against OP pvp builds.
agreed. every invasion i had is the same. i deal 60-70 dmg per hit while i get one- or two-shotted. really fun...

People talking like there was some entity waiting until you are close to the end to schedule an invasion.
It was this way in every Dark Souls games as well. Get a grip. Could be invaded at any time, anywhere. Unless it was a no multiplayer zones.
Stop whining. There are valid issues with PVP, timing of PVP is not an issue, its luck of the draw.

Every person that has invaded me has been using dual light sabers and 1 shotting me with some radiance spell. I have 45 vigor and some of the best and heaviest armour in the game. Still die in one shot lol....
Weird, my Grand Sword build one shots just about every invader I run into. Lotta people just spamming throwables who can't handle it when a big tanky boi charges at them lol
i dont understand why my shots are only doing 300 damage against players when they are dealing 6000 to bosses. yet i get killed in a single hit by a 1handed sword (even tho i have 1000 life). my guess is they are just cheating

Easy, first mods that appeared on Nexus were "9999 of everything" and "ultimate cheated save game", which means every child and their mothers is now lvl 999 with maxed defenses and dmg and "ready" to invade. Even with the downscaling that the multiplayer applies, you are still out of your league regardless of what you do.
Serve them a loading screen instead :D

The biggest difference is that in Dark Souls, you're rarely, if ever, surrounded by enemies. Much less when you're being invaded. And you have a lot more room to maneuver your way out of combat before engaging the invader. It's just not that way in LotF. I got invaded yesterday right next to the elevator that takes you back up to skybridge the back way, and literally was in a short hallway with blocked exits on either end, with multiple enemies surrounding me already then an invader on top of that. It needs work.

Dark Souls invasions are not anywhere near broken as Lords of the Fallen invasions.

Sure, in Dark Souls you get twinked characters that have a really low level but really high end items, you even get cheaters from time to time, but the majority of invasions are winnable.

But in this game literally every single invasion I've had was someone with an unkillable character doing some kind of cheese to make it impossible to win.

I've had someone shoot me through a wall with Blessed Reflections as well. No idea if that is a bug or a cheat.

The bottom line is, it isn't fun to get invaded by characters that you wouldn't be able to kill even if it happened when you're at full resources.

Something is broken with this game, and it sounds like there are a lot of people cheating.
