Blacksmith and ending

I can not find any information on the internet,so i hope anyone can answer it here. If i do the umbral ending i will be locked out from BS(weapon upgrade and rune socketing) from that point,if i recall that is at least 1/3 of the game?

I did the umbral ending 2 days ago and I can confirm you can get the third rune first (from the tower of penance) and then hand that to sparky instead of gerlinde so you can keep weapon upgrading/rune socketing at the vestiges.

After you give the rune to sparky you can kill off Gerlinde with the seedpod. I have 100% confirmed this works but make sure you do this **before** you get the rune of Adyr.

Well it could help,but the rune from Gerlinde is a bit op,so if i want the umbral ending i have to plan a hell ahead,to upgrade weapon and full socket to what use till the end and get the OP rune or just abandon the rune:((

What? No.... If you give the rune to sparky you unlock upgrading at the vestiges instead. You just have to give her all 3 rune tablets and then pick the "give it to sparky" option, once you have done that and you confirm you have the upgrading/socketing at the vestige you can kill off gerlinde with the seedpod.

Yeah that's not possible. You are going to have to choose if you want the umbral ending. Or do multiple runs.

Thanks the help, i think the best option to choose sparky to be able do the umbral playthrought without sacrificeing my sanity.

Yup! Definitely. I did the same and it makes the game a lot more fun to play when you don't have to spend hours farming weapon upgrade mats first.
