Blacksmith and ending

I can not find any information on the internet,so i hope anyone can answer it here. If i do the umbral ending i will be locked out from BS(weapon upgrade and rune socketing) from that point,if i recall that is at least 1/3 of the game?

I did the umbral ending 2 days ago and I can confirm you can get the third rune first (from the tower of penance) and then hand that to sparky instead of gerlinde so you can keep weapon upgrading/rune socketing at the vestiges.

After you give the rune to sparky you can kill off Gerlinde with the seedpod. I have 100% confirmed this works but make sure you do this **before** you get the rune of Adyr.

You just have to give her all 3 rune tablets and then pick the "give it to sparky" option, once you have done that and you confirm you have the upgrading/socketing at the vestige you can kill off gerlinde with the seedpod.

Yup! Definitely. I did the same and it makes the game a lot more fun to play when you don't have to spend hours farming weapon upgrade mats first.
