roof building

im having difficulties building the roof, how can i acheive this?

The building mechanic in this game is very specific, you literally have to build rooms to match the roof, which is crazy because you have to craft, place then build the roof after building the rooms. I suggest a lot of playing around, it's pretty much bulding boxes with a roof, not much scope for anything else. Perhaps go and look across the road at the NPC's houses, take a couple of photos and do that style. If you don't build the rooms to match the limited roof pieces, the roof won't place. As you can see, there are corners but I haven't found a lot of use for them because of the restrictions. You have level 1 which is the piece that goes on the wall, then level 2 which is the next piece up, that's it. So, a room could be many tiles one way, but only 4 the other way, like a rectangle as level 1 must have a wall. The dormers can only be placed on level one and serve a decorative function only. Be careful when demolishing, demolish in the reverse order in which you built or it can explode. You may also find some building videos on YTube.

I love Spockjones's detailed explanation... it seems like you might need an engineering degree just to build a roof :D It looks like backing off from this game was a wise decision. The store page states "that they roughly expect the game to be in Early Access for six months" It will be exciting to return to a fully developed game in feb 2027. That will featuring everything that was promised... back in the 2022 Kickstarter.
