Gaomon Drawing Tablet

Will PD Howler 21 work with my new Gaomon PD156 PRO drawing tablet? I have PD Howler 11 but unfortunately it does not work with pen pressure. It only acts like a mouse. I don't want to invest in an upgrade if I am going to have the same problem.

the problem is that Howler uses the older WinTab interface. Some tablets have switched to a newer interface (is it called the Ink interface? I don't really know). I see the same issue with my old Wacom tablet (Intuos 3). It's not really mouse mode. The position is abolute (mouse is relative). But the pressure isn't seen by Howler unless you use a driver from 2020 (not the latest). If you use the latest driver from Wacom, since they have dropped support for Wintab ointerface, the pressure is no longer seen.

Howler uses WinTab through VB Tablet. We'll have to see if there's an alternative, or a fix, to using something not depending on WinTab.

Can't say if there is a solution, it'll take time to look for one.

to be specific, on the Wacom driver's side: WacomTablet_6.3.15-3 works with pressure for Howler. I think it was released late last year (2020). The latest driver I found a few weeks ago was WacomTablet_6.3.42-2, and that one didn't work with my Intuos 3 altogether. (couldn't even see if pressure would work.). So I can't really say why it wasn't working until I reverted to the prior driver. Maybe it's unrelated to Wintab. Amnyway, if your tablet has a problem with not recognizing pressure (but other things are working), perhaps it's woth trying a different version of their driver.

In the meantime I went ahead and asked Gaomon tech support if they have a driver that supports Wintab interface.

by-the-way, I have seen similar posts on the web regarding pressure not working for other software (Clip studio paint for example), and apparently there's an option to use Wintab vs. Tablet PC (Windows Ink)

I wonder if your driver config has similar options. Check all settings in the configuration of Gaomon tablet. Perhaps you see an option for Wintab mode of operation or something like that. If you do, that may get you wotrking with Howler.

The question is whether Gaomon supports Wintab, still, or only MS Ink.

Let us know here if you find such an option?

You see, people buy the program so that they don't bother with fixes, I bought it on Steam because it has its own character I like the logic of the program,but who likes mistakes nobody. Moreover, I have been looking for a long time in what is a problem.
