New Player on Demons

Is The Schemer okay to start with as a playable demon? I was told to get the hang of things on warlord and I will be playing that but I'd like to branch out at some point and don't want to use broken mechanics or unfun playstyles so everyone can enjoy themselves. Just a question

Schemer is fine but very weak until you get his Manhunter passive, which marks survivors who trigger traps to take extra damage. You want to mostly use proxy portal traps with him to mark survivors then possess the unit and do the frenzy buffed wombo combo for a lot of damage. He's easily the strongest demon with his full kit.

Okay thank you for all the info on Demons on both my posts. I won my first game as the warlord and first game ever!

Be careful what are you wishing for...

Baal is far one of the most hated demon in game by survs for his not yet fixed exploiting mechanics, the lunge attack of the basic units that cover more distance than the once more mobile unit, the Puppeteer's Berserker.

Due the fact that is played mainly by console players, that in his prime with a totally broken mechanic was costantly abused by the players, now without any doubt is in the black list.

So, expect very ultra harsh treatment by some group of survs, focused not only in winning the game, but possibly to make you rage quit.

Prepared to be bully beyond every possible limit.

Said that, the best demon to start with is Necromancer. Baal as Pat Fenis has correctly noted until maxed out is very very weak and easily overrun by survivors, since there is not MMR right now, you can farm points playing Necromancer, that's solid from the start.

I suggest you a build where you focus everything on your basic units and Evil Ash for the endgame phase.

I also suggest you to avoid focusing too much with elite units, they are strong and do a tons damage but are hilariously slow and every surv with a decent amount of hours under the belt will dodge and take distance letting you high and dry consuming the infernal points while you are possessing the unit.

For further info about build or else, I'm at your disposal like many other you can call veterans in this forum and expecially on discord, there you find the best of the best in terms of game experience, those who started since day one on Epic.
