Sker Ritual
Worth it for a Solo Player?
How is this game for solo players? Is it mainly designed for Coop?

it's mainly designed for co-op as these games tend to be but it's perfectly fun and fine solo. The only annoyance that comes from solo play is that i dont think they scale down the mini boss's health that spawns in every so often during play, so you either have to avoid him or spend your entire ammo supply killing him...It's pretty annoying, but ive seen other players justify it as a way to encourage people to play co-op and as a reminder that this isn't a game that's meant to be played solo. Other than the mini boss health, everything else is manageable as long as you know how to run trains and juke lol

Beyond round 80 or so boss will despawn and leave a drop so save your ammo if playing solo

I tried Solo and Co-Op with 1 other person. I saw no difference in enemy count, health, damage or anything else. That doesn't mean there is no difference, just that I didn't notice one.

lol thank you for this thread, very informative.

At the store page, the devs say this:

"Designed for playing solo, or up-to 4-players online. Short of a teammate? No worries, the intensity of Sker Island’s hordes scale to the number of players"

Ahem, ok, i'm saving my money here. Thanks again for this info.

It's just like cod zombies, you either like solo or you don't. I'm solo only and it's just fine.

Is solo really only playable online too?

It's not the same playing a co-op oriented and balanced game solo than to play a game that has a proper and balanced single player mode. Ofc we can play any game even if that's a suicide to be player alone or needs much more effort and grinding, but if a game claims to be balanced for single players and it's not, then it's bad design or bad balance, and it's not worth it unless i specifically want a hard challange (but for that, i prefer souls games that are well balanced for sp anyway)

I disagree completely. First off, you can literally change the difficulty. And second the game isn't very hard anyways. I just played a game and went to round 42 on normal with no downs. It was pretty easy. I just ended the game myself.

I was talking in general about the difference of games that are sp with co-op and those that are co-op or mp and say "playable solo".

Talking specifically about this game, it's not about changing difficulty. If a game is meant to be playable alone, all the dificulty tiers should be proportional and equally fair for both single players and groups. If normal mode, for instance, is harder for solo players, then it's not well balanced or designed towards sp.

The game being more or less difficult in general also does not change what i said (but reinforced the idea of it being unbalanced)

Finally, according to other players reports here, the bosses has the same health for everyone, and that alone is bad balance (so you have a game harder for solo players or too easy for groups) But also reading that there's no noticieable difference playing 1 or 2 in enemies health, count or the damage they do...welll, at the very least the devs didn't work too much the SP mode and the MP mode to make both the same overall difficulty.

The game can still be fun and be playable solo, but it lacks balance between both modes (as you said, probably it mades the grouo playing easier and the solo playing at least a bit annoying as some things are harder than playing in a group)

So... Is solo really only playable online too? XD
I mean, can I play it offline?

So, I've been playing for around 6 hours now and I have to say I have been enjoying it in Solo mode. I'm typically a single player gamer and haven't even tried the multiplayer... not sure that I will ether. But it is still quite fun to play.

[Edit]
Just saw someone ask if it could be played in offline mode, it seems like it can. I chose offline when I booted it up just now and the 2 multiplayer options were not available when starting a new game.
