How do you target lock a cruise missile?
I see the carrier has a light or something that says target locked for cruise missiles. How do you do that? So far I am able to launch one and as long as I keep my carrier camera on the target it gets to it but that's it. Nothing locks.

I haven't tested this myself, but I have been told that after firing a cruise missile, if you press the firing button again after the missile has launched you will get a "support cancelled" message. This basically means "guidance cancelled" and the missile will hit whatever point you last aimed it at.

I think that's basically it. There is no "lock" icon/animation. It just goes for where you are pointing the camera at. If you cancel the support (press fire button again) before it hits, it goes for the last point you were targeting.

I was referring to a light in the bridge right near where you activate cruise missiles. Its tooltip is "Target Lock". Sounds like its another non-functional UI thing.

Thanks.

I'm not sure, having only played solo thus far, but I bet if you had a shipmate spotting a cruise missile strike from a drone or the carrier scope, you would see the target lock light up on the console, and be able to manually launch it for immersions sake. Very curious to test this.

you get this when manually firing missiles from a razorbill; it says "lock target" and "press t". you can use it to lock a green identified target with a red reticule and it stays pinned on your hud. Maybe that's the same thing? see if it lights up once you've id'd some targets

The light is misnamed. It should really say something like support requested or firing sequence engaged or similar.

It only lights up when the system is currently performing a support strike, that is, when the gun is firing or a missile is currently being launched or guided from a camera (I think? Hard to test in singleplayer).

There's no way of locking a cruise missile onto a specific target, which is a shame.
