MoGu's Adventure is a simple 2D platformer where you move left, right and jump, with a single action of cooking and throwing a bomb. The artwork looked nice from the store page and I got a copy for free, so I dove in, hoping for a good time. I didn't.

The movement felt awkward right away. There's too slow of a momentum build up from rest just to gve going. While this is somewhat realistic in a sense, the amount of times that you have turn around and go the other way makes this really annoying. The jumps are also quite floaty and you bounce upward to an unexpect height off of enemies and bombs.

Random traps scattered throughout (the first level that I never made it past) make it a really difficult challenge for the wrong reasons. You have to learn to navigate these traps and be super careful about them, and hopefully you can avoid the damage they would otherwise cause.

I actually stopped playing after the first 10 minutes, then decided to give it another shot, thinking that maybe I quit the first time too early. My second time trying didn't last very long either. You can see all of it here on YouTube:

Keyboard only, I mapped the controls to a controller and it worked fine, but it's a few preset keys otherwise.

The artwork looks decent, though playing on a big screen, I can see that the artwork really doesn't stretch too well to 4K.

Generic music that's rather repetitive, simple sound effects, also not exciting.

From my perspective, I don't really see people having fun with this game, so I cannot recommend it to anyone.

$1.99 is at least a cheap price to try out a game. Though based on my experience with the game, I am guessing most people would refund it despite the cheap price.

MoGu's Adventure came to an end almost before it began. Poor little MoGu. As for people who enjoy 2D platforming, this game is awkward and difficult for just the wrong reasons for it to be unpleasant. I know people are going to say that I didn't give the game a fair shot, but I tried twice and now have 0 motivation to go for a third.

I would stay away from this game.
